As the 25th anniversary of Spice Girls’ debut single is approaching this year, Mel B has claimed that the girls will be marking the occasion as soon as the rules allow it.
Various tours and shows have been canceled during the last year because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The singer talked about it being tricky to have their plans into motion as they have reformed the group for a Spice World UK tour in 2019.
‘People need a bit of entertainment. Music brings people together. I would love it – as soon as the rules allow it, then yeah,’ Mel said, as reports The Mirror. She further added that until the virus gets under control, there is nothing anyone can say or sure. The singer also shared when it comes to putting on a show, she does not know how people are going to do it.
She said things change on a weekly basis during the global pandemic. Mel said, “When it comes to putting on a show or concert, I don’t know how people are going to do it without the proper guidelines and information, because things change on a weekly basis.”
The singer further shared that it is just a case of timings and safety. She shared that she is always wanting to go back on to the stage. Mel is allegedly coaxing Victoria Beckham to take part in making Wannabe. She had opted out of the tour which includes her, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Horner in 2019.
“We love being in the USA and have had so many great times there”
However, it is unclear if the Spice Girls will be back for more than a one-off as they have ruled out the possibility before. Mel C also commented that the band wanted to tour the US next. That is something they have not done since their 2008 reunion The Return of The Spice Girls.
She told Access Hollywood: “We love being in the USA and have had so many great times there doing TV shows and promotional stuff. And we so want to get back there.” The singer clarified that they do not have any plans but they are meeting soon and that will need a certain discussion.
She had also added that they need things to look forward to and they can make good plans for something positive in the future. The singer also noted that it would be rude not to celebrate their impressive milestone this year.
She said: “We had the most incredible year last year, playing stadiums and we have got to do it again. We talk about it all the time.” Mel C said corona has thrown everything into chaos and that there a lot of big artists that were planning to perform last year will move to 2021.
The singer shared that it will probably delay the return of the Spice Girls as well. However, she also assured fans that she is doing everything in her power to make that happen.
