Meghan Markle Reveals She Suffered From a Miscarriage

Meghan Markle revealed in an article that she wrote for a US newspaper that she suffered a miscarriage. The Duchess of Sussex shared about the tragedy as she wrote a special article titled, Losses We Suffered.

She revealed that she lost her second child after feeling a sharp cramp as she was changing Archie’s nappy back in July. The Duchess wrote for the New York Times and described feeling ill at home.

Meghan described how when she was in the hospital she watched her husband, Harry’s heartbreak as he tried to support her. She wrote that she saw Harry’s “heartbreak as he tried to hold the shattered pieces of mine” while they grieved for their baby. The Duchess further described the moment she realized something was not right.

She described how she felt a sharp cramp while changing Archie’s nappy. The Duchess described that she dropped on the floor as she held her son in her hands. Meghan wrote, “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right”.

The Duchess shared that she knew that something was wrong. She wrote, “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second”. Meghan further added that it happened on a July morning that began like any other day for her. She described what she did that day as she shared that she woke up, fed their dogs, and cleaned up Archie’s clothes and crayons.

Meghan then put her hair up in a ponytail before she was going to get her son out of his crib. That is the moment she felt the pain in her stomach as she was changing Archie’s nappy. Markle wrote: “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal”.
