Meet Shravan Jangam – A former waiter who is a successful entrepreneur now

The triad of perseverance, dedication and self-confidence is the route towards success in the business. With the endless efforts, Shravan Rajendra Jangam reached the peak of his career in his youth. The 30-year old entrepreneur is a resident of Koregaon in Satara district. After his schooling, he pursued his Bachelor of Commerce. Coming from a middle-class family, the family members at his home earlier did many odd jobs to earn the living. He always dreamt of becoming an engineer, but due to the situation and financial constraints, he chose to pursue a career in B.Com. While he was 16, he left the village and moved to Pune for a job in a hotel. Shravan’s earning was Rs 1,800 per month which was very less for him.

With his educational qualification, he simultaneously started working in a call centre in Pune. The entrepreneur gradually started to progress in his work, and after his second year of college, he was selected as the medical representative of a pharmaceutical company in a college campus interview. This was the start of Shravan’s road towards success. Jangam worked in Pune for six years until he crossed paths with many reputed personalities of Maharashtra. After working under someone, he decided to start his own business. By building strong political connections, he then started a Chinese cart, a mobile distribution agency in Koregaon. With time, his business flourished, and the source of income saw tremendous growth.

Shravan later expanded his business horizons as he started Hotel Rassa in Pune and Hotel United-21 in Mahabaleshwar. Along with this, Mr Jangam launched three drinking water treatment plants in Pandharpur. With stability in business, Shravan took charge of brother Manoj’s education and also fulfilled his sister’s dream of getting married at Mallikaarjuna Temple. “My parents have been the strongest support system throughout my journey from being a waiter to a hotel owner”, said Shravan. The successful entrepreneur has provided employment opportunities to more than 150 people in his village. For his work, he was honoured with Sahyadri Udyog Ratna Award, Jangam Bhushjnan and Veershaiva Lingayat Samaj Bhushan Award.
