Marvel’s Shang Chi opens at 32.5 million in India, while Fast and Furious 9 takes in 35 million in just two days

Shang Chi, a Marvel superhero movie, is off to a strong start at the box office, with earnings of around Rs 32.5 million.

The opening day revenue may have been in the Rs 50 million level based on advance booking, but spot booking was slower than expected. Nonetheless, it’s a promising start for a Hollywood picture, especially one about a Chinese superhero’s origins.

Shang Chi opening Collection

The good news is that the collections in the Hindi markets are doing well. By a long shot, English was the best-received version of Shang Chi, followed by South Indian dubbed and Hindi.

Bell Bottom, followed by Fast and Furious 9 and now Shang Chi, has gotten the ball moving for the Hindi circuits, and it’s now up to the business to keep the releases coming in order to restore the suffering exhibition sector.

Shang Chi’s box office should increase throughout the weekend, with the opening weekend expected to be over Rs 130 million.

Glimple From F9

Fast & Furious 9 was released in India on Thursday after a three-month delay. Despite the fact that the pirated version of the film was widely available, it actually drew some attention when it was released.

The Vin Diesel-led franchise debuted at Rs 20 million on September 2, but business dropped on Friday due to Shang Chi’s loss of screens. It has raised almost Rs 15 million, bringing the total to Rs 35 million.

F9’s weekend gross is expected to be in the range of Rs 60 million. Overall, this is the strongest weekend for Hindi films in the last 18 months, with the combined total of the two Hollywood blockbusters expected to be about Rs 200 million.

Bell Bottom will also draw some attention in its third weekend, and the Akshay Kumar movie is expected to earn between Rs 17.5 million to 2.25 million.
