Marvel Reignites Keanu Reeves Casting Hopes As They Wish Him On His Birthday
A now-deleted tweet has gained a lot of traction from Marvel fans; as Marvel UK reignited hopes that Keanu Reeves will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor has been a prominent name since the ’80s but his resurgence over the John Wick franchise, Toy Story 4, and Bill & Ted Face the Music has only become more loved than ever.
The actor has continued to dominate both the internet as well as the movie screen in the upcoming The Matrix: Resurrections and John Wick: Chapter 4. However, fans cannot help but want Keanu to join the pop culture space he has yet to step into, that is, the MCU.
Marvel Studios have roped in an impressive amount of talent for its universe. The next phase of MCU will include Moon Knight’s Oscar Isaac to Eternals’ Angelina Jolie both on Disney+ as well as the big screen. Keanu was rumoured to be a part of Eternals; and has been fan cast as everyone from Moon Knight and Wolverine to Ghost Rider and Namor.
Kevin Feige has revealed that they have talked to Keanu about every MCU film; but they are waiting for a perfect role. However, on Thursday, the official Twitter account for Marvel UK wished Keanu a happy birthday. This tweet sent the internet into a frenzy; as they began speculating that the actor had agreed to join the MCU in some way.
The handle deleted the tweet and it’s likely that they deleted it because of the chaos it was causing. It is hard to say if the tweet means anything more than a nice gesture. But if we look at Kevin and Marvel Studios’ secrecy; even if Keanu was in talks to join the MCU; we will not know and it will not be put up on social media.
It seems like only a matter of time before Marvel actually appeases fans and ropes him in for their many franchises. There is an infinite number of heroes and villains that are set to hit the MCU; after Disney’s acquisition of Fox’s X-Men and Fantastic Four as well as the introduction of the multiverse in Loki.
