Mandy Moore addressed her ex-husband, Ryan Adams, public apology. He posted an apology last week after being accused of misconduct and psychological abuse one-and-a-half years later.

Ryan apologized in an open letter and apologized for his behavior towards multiple women. Mandy was asked whether she thinks Ryan has changed after he apologized.

Mandy responded saying that she feels as if she has already said enough about the topic.  ‘You know, it’s challenging because I feel like in many ways, I’ve said all I want to say about him and that situation,’ she explained.

She continued expressing her curiosity on his public apology instead of a private one. Moore clarified that she is speaking for herself and she is not looking for an apology. But she finds it curious that Ryan would do an interview about it rather than addressing it privately.

The New York Times published last year in February that Ryan Adams sexually harassed women. They stated that seven women were harassed including his former fiancee Megan Butterworth and former flame Phoebe Bridgers. There were claims that he would ask for sexual favors from women in the name of giving them career opportunities.

Allegations further stated that he would retaliate when women refused to accept his proposal for sexual favors by sabotaging their careers. He used to harass them via text messages or social media. Ryan had also been accused of sending explicit content to an underage fan.

He was accused of emotional and psychological abuse on women including Mandy who was married to him from 2009 to 2016. Ryan shared his apology on Friday about his regrets regarding his past behavior. He claimed that he wants to be a better man and that he is sober now. Ryan says he is finally ready to confront his harmful behavior that brought everything in his life to an end.

He stated in his apology that there are no words to express how bad he feels about mistreating people throughout his life and career. Ryan states that he is sorry and that this period of isolation has brought him to reflect on his behavior. He says he needs to make significant changes.

Adams emphasized ‘this time it’s different’ and having ‘truly realized the harm that I’ve caused, it wrecked me, and I’m still reeling from the ripples of devastating effects that my actions triggered.

He further states that he took a hard look at himself after realizing the consequences of his actions. Ryan claims that he was carrying pain which he projected on others ‘poorly and wrongly’. He further said that no matter what it took, he will get to the root of these issues. Ryan says that he will start to fix himself to be a better friend, a better partner, and a better man overall.

He also states that no amount of growth will take away the suffering he has caused. ‘I will never be off the hook and I am fully accountable for my harmful behavior and will be for my actions moving forward,’ he claims.

Ryan further claims that sobriety is his priority with his mental health. He says he is working on himself and using music to look within his soul. Ryan said he has made enough music for half a dozen albums. Further describing his songs, he says some of it is angry or sad. But most of it is about the lessons he has learned over the last few years.

Ryan hopes that the people he has hurt are healed and they will be able to forgive him.

Moore had previously talked about him in which she said he made her feel like she lacked talent. He had stopped her from making musical connections in the industry. ‘He would always tell me, “You’re not a real musician, because you don’t play an instrument,”‘ she claimed in the NYT article.

Moore further said that his controlling behavior did block her ability to make new connections in the industry. And during that time, it was a lucrative time of Moore’s career from her mid to late 20s. After her statement, three albums that she was planning to release were canceled. Including tour dates and products, sponsorships were all canceled.

Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith

Mandy and Ryan got engaged in 2009. They separated in 2016 after six years of marriage. Talking about the separation, Mandy said she felt like she was drowning. She claimed it was untenable, unsustainable for her. Moore said she felt lonely with him in a podcast.

Mandy said she knew this was not the person she was meant to be with and she wasn’t the person she was meant to be. However, Mandy is free of all that drama and happily married to Taylor Goldsmith. They keep entertaining themselves and their fans with their quarantine music. She is also looking forward to starting shooting for This Is Us after all of this is over.

Mandy clarified that once she gets an all-clear from the government of Los Angeles, they will go ahead and start shooting. She hopes that it is sooner because everybody in the cast is anxious to get back to work.
