Lizzo Responds To Backlash to 10-Day Juice Cleanse
Lizzo shared the motivation behind her recent weight loss which includes a diet. Although she is happy with the results, the singer received social media backlash.
The Grammy winner had posted a clip of herself trying a 10-day smoothie cleanse on her Instagram and TikTok. However, some users criticized the singer for promoting health choices which have been perceived harmful. She is typically a body-positive star and has always promoted the same.
Lizzo responded to the criticism in a heartfelt video as she shared that she would normally be afraid and ashamed to post things like this online. She explained it is because she feels as a big girl, people expect if she is doing something healthy, she is doing it for a dramatic weight loss.
The singer clarified, “As you know, I would normally be so afraid and ashamed to post things like this online because I feel like, as a big girl, people just expect if you are doing something for health, you’re doing it for a dramatic weight loss, and that is not the case”. She continued sharing as she said the November has been really stressful for her and she drank a lot.
Lizzo revealed during that time, she ate a lot of spicy things which is not good for her stomach. She shared that she wanted to reverse it and get back to where she was. The Truth Hurts singer shared that the benefits were not about superficial improvements.
“every big girl should do whatever the f–k they want with their body.”
She further revealed that she is proud of herself and her results. The singer further shared how her sleep has improved, her hydration, inner peace and mental stability and her body, skin and the whites of her eyes are better.
She said, “Like, I feel and look like a bad bitch. And that’s it. I’m a big girl who did a smoothie detox. And I wanted to share that with you guys. I got exactly what I wanted out of it, and every big girl should do whatever the f–k they want with their body.”
Lizzo went ahead to share a footage of her enjoying of tasty-looking treats that was for her recent holiday party. It included pasta, sandwiches and enchiladas. The singer has always been known for being outspoken about her body and embracing the choices she makes. Back in June, she had clapped back at haters after she posted her exercise regimen.
“So next time you wanna come to somebody and judge them,” she shared, “whether they drink kale smoothies or eat McDonald’s or work out or not work out, how about you look at your own f–king self and worry about your own godd–n body.”
