Jesy Nelson has shocked her fans once again after announcing her exit from Little Mix after nine years. The singer’s decision to leave the limelight has left fans heartbroken however, she was a part of the limelight since she was young.
She had appeared in noughties comedy About A Boy, back in 2002 which featured Hugh Grant and Toni Colette. The movie was a romantic comedy-drama that took Nicholas Hoult on the map internationally. He played the youngster who was tormented.
Jesy had appeared in the most iconic scene in the movie as she made her cameo as one of the students who attended Marcus’ school. The singer is seen as a part of the audience during Marcus’ performance at the talent show. In the scene, he performs Killing Me Softly to cheer his mother.
The singer is seen wearing a maroon school uniform as she smiles at her school friend’s unforgettable performance. However, that is not all we meant when we said she has been in the limelight since a very young age. She was also a part of Harry Potter as she made a cameo in the superhit franchise.
Jesy was a part of Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire which featured Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. Little Mix fans found this and were utterly shocked at her secret acting career. They took to Twitter to express their disbelief this week as they got back-to-back surprises.
“Cannot believe Jesy Nelson appeared in two of my favorite movies ever! What the heck” shared one surprised fan. “Jesy Nelson was in About A Boy??? This is too much for my brain to comprehend” another echoed. “At least we might see her on TV now instead of the stage?” a third enthused.

Jesy shared the news of her decision to exit Little Mix to fans with a lengthy statement on her Instagram. She wrote that the past nine years with Little Mix has been an incredible time of her life. The singer shared that they have achieved things she never thought was possible. Further adding, she wrote, “We have achieved things I never thought possible. From winning our first Brit Award to our sold-out shows at the O2.”
Jesy shared that she can’t thank friends and fans all over the world for making her feel like the luckiest girl in the world. She wrote that they have always been her support and have encouraged her and she will never forget it.
The singer further explained, “The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard. There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process.”
Jesy then announced that after much consideration and with a heavy heart, she is leaving Little Mix. She emotionally explained that she needs to spend some time with the people she loves and doing things that makes her happy. The singer further added that she is ready to embark on a new chapter in her life and that she is not sure what it is going to look like.

However, she hoped that her fans will still support her. She wrote, “I want to say thank you to everyone involved in our journey. All the hard work and dedication that went into making us a success. To every single fan who came to see us in concert, who listened to our songs and sung their hearts out, sent me messages, and supported me along the way I want you to know I love you all so much and I could never have done this without you and I appreciate it endlessly.”
Jesy then thanked her band members for creating the most amazing memories that she will never forget. She then shared her hopes that they will continue to fulfill all their dreams and keep making music that people love.
Fans were heartbroken after the news broke out as they sent their best wishes to both the band and Jesy. Many celebrities supported Jesy’s decision as well as her ex-boyfriend showed support. He commented under her post with “the best” with a heart emoji.
