Lili Reinhart Says Recent Comments Were Not About Cole Sprouse

Lili Reinhart set things right after reportedly opening up about Cole Sprouse. In an interview published on Tuesday, Lili talked about ‘heartache’. She also reflected on the changes in her life.

The actress says that quotes from her recent interview are not about a ‘breakup’ and rather it is about the depression she felt all these months. She says she is tired of people taking her words out of context. Lili clarified, “I would never speak so candidly about something as personal as a breakup. That’s incredibly private. I was addressing my depression.”

In her interview with Refinery29, she said that this is the first time in four years that she has been able to stop and take a step back to look at the changes in her life. Lili opens up about her career and mental health has its ups and downs. She said at one point she felt like she was in a “black tunnel [that] was never going to end.”

The Riverdale star said that she couldn’t see the light and she felt like she is dying. She described it as pretty rough and that there was no way than going through it. The actress further added that instead of trying to fill the void that she felt she should face the pain.

“I’ve seen a lot of people when it comes to heartache and grief and breakups, and they try to get that void filled with sex, with coke, with food, with drinking, [but] the void is still there,” Reinhart told Refinery29. “I took the road less traveled and just dealt with my s—. I had to face my own pain head-on.”

Lili Opens Up About Her Health During Quarantine

The actress admits to the last few months being the most emotional few months of her life. Her therapist told Lili that her body is going through withdrawal from love. Lili explained that people are used to having this exchange of happy chemicals between two people who love each other. She further added, “In moments of my life, I have dropped every ounce of pride that I had just to be like, ‘Love me. Please take the pain away for a day, a second, an hour,’ just so I can feel that fix again.”

Lili has always been open about her struggle with mental health in the past as well. In her interview with Harper Bazaar in 2018, she acknowledged depression as a very real thing, and a day-to-day thing.

“It’s something that comes in all shapes and colors and all different scenarios, all different types of people,” she shared with the magazine. “When I do conventions, and I can meet fans one on one, they tell me, ‘You speaking about mental health has really helped me a lot.’ It’s very surreal.”

The Riverdale actress previously also revealed that she has been using quarantine time to slow down. ‘I’m not the same person I was when I flew back from Canada to get back into the States when the borders closed [in March],’ Reinhart told the magazine. ‘The past few years have been so hectic. I often refer to it as a whirlwind’.

‘I stress myself out all the time’

She said she stresses out about going out because she doesn’t want to drive there and leave her dog at home. ‘I stress myself out all the time. Going to the post office … I really don’t want to drive to the post office. It gives me anxiety because I don’t want to leave my dog, I don’t want to have to deal with going out in public,’ she said.

Lili also revealed how wearing a mask also stresses her out when entering shops. Although she assures she is happy to wear one. She revealed that she does not want to deal with the mask thing. The actress says she hypes herself up about dumb things.

Lili has been struggling with anxiety since she was in school. She has been getting panic attacks since she was 13. The actress revealed her struggle while talking to self-help author Sylvester McNutt on Instagram. She said she struggled with it in school and at that point, she had no choice. The actress said, “I started getting panic attacks when I was in 8th grade so I think I was thirteen and every day in my 8th grade year I would cry in the morning.”

The author suggested Lili listen to a happy playlist when she is carrying out stressful tasks. This will distract her from her fears and enable her to retrain her brain into feeling calm during such situations. She has also been open about her struggle from depression. Lili said she has been affected by depression in so many ways.
