LeBron James Extends Contract With The Los Angeles Lakers

Shortly after winning the 2020 NBA title, LeBron James has signed a reported $ 85 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

James’ lawyer and Clutch Sports chief executive Rich Paul initially told The Athletic’s Shams Shania about a new contract, as well as confirming the deal at several stores on Wednesday.

A 2-Year Extension

The contract sees him remain a Laker until the end of the 2022-23 season, and it also opens up the opportunity to play in the NBA at the same time as his son, Bronny.

James’s current deal was due to end at the end of the 2021-22 season. As part of the new contract, James is expected to receive $ 41 million in the first year of the extension, before earning $ 44.5 million in the final year of his contract.

At the age of 38, she will again be a free agent in 2023 – the same year her eldest son Bronny graduated from high school.

Last year, NBA commissioner Adam Silver made it possible for him to go straight to high school and go to the NBA – as James did back in 2003 – rather than go to college or play in a foreign league first.

Earlier this year, Silver doubled the plan, saying: “We haven’t made a secret recently. It’s our goal, although we still need to update the details with the players’ organization, to get back to the age of 18.”

Playing With His Son Bronny

In 2018, James expressed his desire to play with his son, saying, “If I’m in the same court as my son in the NBA. That would be No. 1 in my life as an NBA player. I thought about it because my son will be 14 years old, and he might be able to get there early. “

Bronny James is currently a student at Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles, and is considered one of the best high school basketball prospects in the country.

Elsewhere

Elsewhere in the NBA, another family had their dream come true, as all three Ball brothers now have contracts with NBA teams.

The youngest and the top brothers have earned a number of top spot in the league with Lonzo being second overall by the Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft and LaMelo being third overall by Charlotte Hornet’s in this year’s category. Lonzo has since been sold to New Orleans Pelicans.

Now, my middle brother LiAngelo Ball has signed with Detroit Pistons. According to The Athletic, he reportedly signed a one-year contract, which was not confirmed on Wednesday.

LiAngelo has had a much harder trip to the NBA than his brothers.

During his time at UCLA, he and two other colleagues were arrested a few days before the 2017 season opened in China and questioned about shoplifting glasses at a Louis Vuitton store, and UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero confirmed the three had been taken from three stores near their hotel.

Possibly facing arrest time, U.S. President Donald Trump intervened and asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to help, the charges were eventually dropped.

If two brothers of Ball are going to play on the same list, and face a third brother, they can imitate the Holiday brothers. In December 2019, the holidays became the first three brothers to play in the same game in league history.

Westbrook Joins The Party

Meanwhile, after it was reported he wanted to trade away from the Rouston Rockets after just one season, Russell Westbrook got what he wanted.

The best trade of the season this year saw the 2017 NBA MVP Westbrook sent to the Washington Wizards with the return of John Wall’s first 2010 election and a draft-protected lottery.

Like Westbrook, Wall reportedly wanted to get out of his team. Wall leaves Washington 10 years after the team made the playoffs only four times, and never made more than a second round.

The Houston upheaval are probably not over yet.

2018 NBA MVP James Harden has also secretly asked to trade, but it is hoped that Wall’s addition could entice him to stay with the team. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Harden is keen to trade with the Brooklyn Nets where he can play alongside unlimited All-Stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
