Lalit Behl, a senior actor and producer, died of COVID-19 symptoms in New Delhi on Friday. He was 72 years old at the time. The news was reported by Behl’s son, filmmaker Kanu Behl, to portals. According to him, the Made in Heaven actor contracted COVID-19 a week ago, and his other health problems complicated the situation. Many industry colleagues expressed their sadness over Behl’s death on social media after the news broke.
His condition was complicated by heart and lung problems, Kanu told PTI that his father was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi before passing away. “He said “In the afternoon, [Behl] passed away. It became complicated because he had a history of heart problems and had COVID. He had a major infection in his lungs, which, combined with his prior medical history, complicated his health even further.”
After a long career on stage, Behl made his big screen debut in 2014 in his son’s directorial debut, Titli. He had previously directed and produced a number of Doordarshan telefilms, including Tapish, Aatish, and Happy Birthday. He starred in the Kangana Ranaut-Rajkummar Rao film Judgementall Hai Kya and the Amazon Prime series Made in Heaven. Behl leaves behind a wife and a son.
