Kris Jenner Pulled The Plug On KUWTK After Three Kids Wanted To Quit
Kris Jenner reportedly pulled the plug on their long-time show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians after three of her kids expressed their desire to leave.
Reports suggest that the momager had to end the show because Kim Kardashian West, Kourtney Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner; wanted to leave the show. A source has also revealed that Khloe Kardashian and Scott Disick are devastated by the decision of ending the show early next year.
Sources reveal that the family has been arguing about the future of the show for months. Kim took to her social media on Tuesday to announce that they would be ending their long-time show.
An insider revealed: “Kim has all the drama with Kanye West going on – he’s refusing to put anything personal on the show; and it’s increasingly difficult for Kim to find time to film the show”. The insider said Kylie is making millions with her makeup line and product endorsements on social media, so she does not need the show. Meanwhile, Kendall has always struggled to be in the limelight and deal with fame.
Kylie can be free to tour with Travis Scott along with their child, Stormi as well. On the other hand, it was already clear that Kourtney Kardashian wants to take a backseat from the show. She had decided to play a second character in the recent season to focus on raising her three children.
The Poosh creator has opened up about how the show has become a toxic environment, taking so much of her day-to-day life. The insider revealed that Kourtney is happy that the show is finally coming to an end. However, another source has revealed that the decision was not made by one person.
“Social media has largely replaced what Keeping Up once provided”
The source revealed that the decision to put an end to the show was made by the entire family together. Kim shocked her fans by announcing the end of the show with season 20 which will be airing in early 2021. The reality star wrote a heartfelt letter for the fan-following of the show. However, she did not mention the reason to end the show.
The viewership of the show has only increased leading to huge paycheques to the reality stars. It was also a question that was asked to them every time during an interview. A source informed TMZ, that the Kardashian-Jenner brand gets way more income through social media than their personal businesses than on TV. Because of which the family decided to take a step back from the TV industry.
According to sources, the TV show had premiered in 2007 to promote and endorse themselves and the surplus of products they have put out over the years. However, the growth of social media has been so vast that the motivation to maintain the series on cable diminished.
A source explained: “Social media has largely replaced what ‘Keeping Up‘ once provided”. The viewership of KUWTK has decreased with time and for the current season, less than 900,000 live viewers tuned in for the show.
TMZ previously reported that the family is getting paid $150 million back in 2017 when they signed a five-season deal. Every episode the family earns $30 million.
“We’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians“
It is also no secret that Kim’s husband and rapper, Kanye West has gone through a very public breakdown. The mother-of-four has reportedly refused to address Kanye’s episode on the show. It is alleged that their problems might be one of the reasons why Kim wanted out of the show. Kim and Khloe have a majority of the scenes based on their houses and their lives.
Kourtney was also a major part of the show before she decided to take a step back and act as the second character. This led to a physical fight between Kim and Kourtney as they argued about Kourtney’s work. The fight triggered quite a stir as fans said they are portraying negative behavior.
Kim wrote on her social media, “To our amazing fans – It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
“After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years; through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children.”
The Skims creator goes on to say they will cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way. She thanks the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience.
Kim continues, “Most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray; who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives”. She went ahead to announce that the last season will air in early 2021. The Skims creator further said without the show, she would not be here and expresses her gratitude.
Kim concluded the heartfelt statement, “This show made us who we are; and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever. With Love and Gratitude, Kim.”
