Kelly Clarkson Says She “Didn’t See” Divorce Coming on Talk Show Premiere
Kelly Clarkson premiered her show for the first time in six months. She addressed her divorce, however, said the details would stay private.
After six whole months, Kelly is back with her show The Kelly Clarkson Show. A lot of things have happened in her life and in the world since she has left. The episode was the premiere for season two of her show and she opened up about the ‘dumpster’ year that is 2020.

She told her audience a lot of things have happened in 2020, a lot of changes have happened in her life. The host said she did not see it coming. The singer filed for divorce back in June from her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock.
Her divorce has come as a shock to fans as well as their friends and family. Kelly explained what she is going through is hard because it involves other little hearts and not just hers. She said, “We have four kids. And divorce is never easy. And we’re both from divorced families so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts.”
The singer said she is usually very open about everything but in this case, she thinks its best to not go too far into it. She explained her decision saying she is a ‘mama bear’ and her kids come first.

Kelly assured her fans and viewers that she is okay because a lot of people have asked her that. She explained that she is using her songwriting skills as a coping mechanism, which has helped her since she is a kid. “My mom told me to start writing and that’s actually how I get my feelings out,” the 38-year-old said.
Kelly Feels Grateful To Have A Musical Outlet
The singer said she would not be talking about her divorce too much but she might incorporate it in her music. She added that music has always been her outlet to get her through difficult times. The host said she has been listening to a lot of music and she has also been writing a lot of music.
Back in June, Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon after nearly seven years of marriage. The pair shares two children with each other, 6-year-old River Rose and 4-year-old Remington. Brandon already has two kids from his previous marriage.

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kelly Clarkson revealed that she does not want to go in detail about her divorce with Brandon Blackstock. The singer described herself as an open person, however, she says she will not truly open up about the divorce because there are kids involved.
She said, “I think that I will navigate a way in which to be open and honest about it eventually, probably via the show, and it’ll probably, I’m assuming, happen organically when someone says something in conversation or something. It definitely wouldn’t be planned.”
However, Kelly feels grateful to have a musical outlet to express her feelings. She revealed that she told her therapist how she has no idea how someone deals with a big change, like a divorce, without an outlet.
The singer explained, “I am very lucky. Even from my childhood, my mom told me I had a problem expressing my emotions; and all these things when I was really young and that I should start writing. So that’s me expressing it. I usually leave it in the songs and that’s usually my therapy.”
Her show airs weekdays on NBC.
