Kelly Clarkson will be filling in for Simon Cowell on Tuesday and Wednesday’s live show. Simon had to undergo surgery for his back due to a biking accident on Saturday.
Kelly took to her social media to announce her appearance on America’s Got Talent, as she steps in for Simon. She joked that she was wiser, cooler, and hotter than Simon. Kelly was previously the winner of American idol, where Simon was the judge.
The singer added that her friend, Simon was in an accident but he is better now. However, she informed fans that he won’t be able to come in for Tuesday and Wednesday’s live shows. She went on to announce, “But no worries America, someone far wiser, cooler, and hotter is taking his seat! The unbelievably amazing Kelly Clarkson ???? You’re welcome in advance!”
Simon has unfortunately got into a biking accident which led him to be under surgery for six hours. He broke his back in a number of places and had to go through procedures and fusions. A source also claimed he had to insert a metal rod in his back.
His representative informed, “Simon had a fall from his bike testing his new electric bike in the courtyard at his house in Malibu with his family. He hurt his back and was taken to the hospital. He’s doing fine, he’s under observation and is in the best possible hands.”
Simon also took to Twitter to talk about the incident. He advised fans saying before you ride an electric trail bike, everybody should read the instructions. The judge wrote, “I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.” He also went on to thank the nurses and doctors and told everyone to be safe.
Simon had previously expressed his excitement about AGT’s return. He informed ET that he thought it would not happen. The judge said there are so many hoops it had to go through but they pulled it off. He assured us that it is going to be different and bigger this time.
Simon added, “It’s gonna be big, it’s gonna be entertaining, it’s gonna be wild, it’s gonna be unpredictable, but I love that, you know? I like that thrill of being on a roller coaster when you’re like, ‘This is gonna have its ups and downs, but I don’t know what’s coming.’ I love that.”
Simon also revealed that he and the other judges would be riding on golf carts and on motorbikes. They will ride around the Universal Studios set in Universal City, California. He said, “We are going to be in golf carts, motorbikes and probably God knows what else, going from place to place, so that is the part I am most excited about. We don’t know where we are going next, who we are going to see, I think we pulled off a miracle here.”
