Keanu Reeves’ John Wick 5 Confirmed

Everybody’s favorite Keanu Reeves’ John Wick is returning to entertain us by next year yet again. John Wick 4 is expected to be released in 2022 on Memorial Day. Wait for it, there is more. While John Wick 4 is being filmed John Wick 5 will also be shot back-to-back.

Lionsgate studio confirmed on Thursday that the popular series will continue to entertain us while also giving us an extra film as well. According to Deadline, the series will continue with John Wick 4 and 5.

During an earnings call, CEO John Feltheimer mentioned about preparing to build scripts for the further installments. He said John Wick 4 is slated to release next year on Memorial Day. “We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 & 5 back-to-back when Keanu becomes available early next year,” he added.

Keanu is said to be shooting for Matrix 4 by Warner Bros. He is back again with Jada Pinkett Smith and Carrie-Anne Moss for the film. John Wick 3 made almost $56.8 million in its opening weekend. Because of that Lionsgate decided to go ahead with the fourth and even the fifth installment.

In May last year, director Chad Stahelski, discussed about the future of the film. “People ask me this all the time, am I ending the movie for a cliffhanger? Is there a number four it’s headed for,” Stahelski said. “Keanu and I have never, from one to two, two to three, ever expected to do a sequel or a follow-up.”

Director Says Ending Will be Sad

The director told fans to not keep their hopes high for John’s future. He said that John will survive all of this but he has no place to go. John further urged the fans to answer how do they want him ending the series. He says the character has killed 300 people and he will not walk away like everything is ok.

He continued, “He’s killed 300 f—— people and he’s just going to [walk away], everything’s OK? He’s just going to fall in love with a love interest? If you’re this f—— guy, if this guy really exist[ed], how is this guy’s day going to end? He’s f—ed for the rest of his life,” the director said. “It’s just a matter of time.”

In December 2019, Warner Bros. announced it would release The Matrix 4 on May 21, 2021. Not just that, this is the same day John Wick 4 is expected to hit the theatres.

Due to the pandemic, the schedule may change or remain the same but we cannot wait for Keanu Reeves to be back on the screen. He has won a million hearts all over the world, not just for the movies but also for being the most liked meme of the internet.
