Katy Perry reveals she considered suicide following split from Orlando Bloom in 2017
Katy Perry revealed that she hit rock bottom in both her personal and professional life in 2017. The popular singer and songwriter even confessed to contemplating suicide after her split from actor Orlando Bloom. The unexpected failure of her album and her troubled personal relationships caused the singer a lot of grief. ‘My career was on this trajectory when it was going up, up and up. Then I had the smallest shift, not that huge from an outside perspective. But for me it was seismic.’ Katy Perry said, during an interview on the radio station SiriusXM CBC.
“I lost my smile,” Katy Perry confessed. “I don’t know if my smile was ever fully, like, authentically mine. But I was riding on the high of a smile for a long time. Which was the validation, love, and admiration from the outside world, and then that shifted.”

The American Idol judge has since reconciled with Bloom and is now expecting her first child with him. ‘I had given so much out. And it literally broke me in half. I had broken up with my boyfriend, who is now my baby daddy-to-be.’
“I just crashed”
Katy Perry continued, saying that she was excited about ‘flying high’ off her fifth studio album, Witness. However the validation didn’t help her emotionally. ‘I just crashed,’ she said.
Witness, Perry’s fifth album, although receiving poor critical and commercial success, did get charted in the Billboard 2000. The album’s first hit, Chained To The Rhythm, was well received but her other tracks did not do so well. The unexpected failure hit the singer quite hard and she confessed to spiraling into depression.
Katy Perry spoke about the strength of her faith that things would get better, which helped her during this difficult time. She stated. “It was so important for me to be broken so that I could find my wholeness in a whole different way. And be more dimensional than just living my life like a thirsty pop star all the time,” she said. “I’m really strong as Katy Perry, and sometimes I’m not as strong as Katheryn Hudson,” the singer revealed at the time.
“Gratitude probably saved my life”
Katy Perry confessed that being Grateful is what helped the singer out of her dark place. ‘Gratitude is probably the thing that saved my life, because if I did not find that I would have wallowed in my own sadness and probably just jumped. But I found the ways to be grateful. If it gets really, really hard I walk around and say, “I am grateful, I am grateful.” even though I am in a sh*tty mood.’

The Never worn White singer is expecting her first child with Bloom this summer. Katy Perry has revealed that she is at a better place to deal with her mental health issues.
‘My hope is that something bigger than me created me for a purpose and created me for a reason. And that I’m not disposable, and that every person that’s been created has a purpose.’ The singer is no stranger to talking about her mental health issues. Last month, Katy Perry opened up about the ‘waves of depression’ she’d experienced during the corona virus pandemic.
‘Sometimes I don’t know what’s worse, trying to avoid the virus or the waves of depression that come with this new norm.’ The singer tweeted. Katy’s fans are proud of the singer for being brave enough to open up about her insecurities. The singer seems more relatable when she does so, and using her platform in such a way helps educate many people.
Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry first began dating in 2016 and went public with their romance at the Cannes Film Festival. They split a year later but got back together after a few months.
