Karol G confirms she tested positive for Corona Virus
The Colombian reggaeton singer, Karol G, has confirmed she tested positive for the coronavirus. The 29-year-old star, born, Carolina Giraldo Navarro shared the diagnosis during an Instagram Live on Monday.
The Tusa singer said that she tested positive two or three weeks ago but had not made it public so her parents wouldn’t worry. “First of all, thank you to all the people that have reached out to me. I hadn’t said anything because my parents are far away and I didn’t want them to worry about me,” she says. “My family and I are very close and do a lot of things together, and under different circumstances, they would most likely be here with me.”
“My single “Ay DiOs Mío” was also set to come out, and I didn’t want any of the headlines to be about me having the virus,” she added.
“I got another test and I hope this one will be negative.”
Karol G went on to say that she is feeling well compared to others who have been diagnosed positive. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few weeks ago with her friend and sister, and decided to isolate away from her fiance, Anuel, who she confirmed tested negative.
“I feel well. Today, I got another test and I hope this one will be negative.”
Karol G joins other Latin artists like Prince Royce, Ovy on the Drums and Morat band members, among others, to share their road to recovery from coronavirus.
“All I can say is, please take care of yourself”
Karol G thanked her fans for their love and support. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out,” she said. “I did have COVID-19 and it was very difficult and painful, but I’m recuperating. Thank you for the sweet messages and for everyone that has worried about me,” she continued. “All I can say is, please take care of yourself. COVID-19 is real. I didn’t want to make this news public, but I’m doing well.”
Talking About her New Single
Karol had been noticeably absent when it came to promoting her new single Ay, DiOs Mío!, which was reportedly because she had moved out of the apartment she shares with Anuel into another unit so as to avoid contaminating the space.
In a recent interview, the Colombian singer-songwriter spoke about her new single “Ay DiOs Mío,” that she co-wrote with Danny Ocean, and her time in quarantine with fiancé Anuel.
“Instead of saying ‘We’re sick of each other,’ we’ve come closer together,” Karol G said. “We finished his album, and seeing that process was great. And now we’re working on mine. We really don’t give much opinions on what the other does because we have very different identities and we don’t want to interfere. But we’re part of the process.”
