Josh Duggar Arrested In Child Pornography Case Seeks Bail To Be Home With Pregnant Wife

Josh Duggar is applying for bail while awaiting a trial because as he says he is not elligible for a flight risk because he appears to be on TV, new court documents show.

Josh Duggar, 33, wants to get out of jail and has requested to do so, in new court documents obtained by HollywoodLife and other news publications.

The 19 Kids and Counting star, Josh Duggar had been arrested and charged with receiving and possessing child pornography last week.

Federal prosecutors announced the indictment a day after Duggar was arrested by U.S. Marshals in northwest Arkansas. Prosecutors said Duggar possessed the material, some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12, in May 2019.

Duggar, 33, pleaded not guilty at a hearing Friday. His attorneys said they planned to defend his case “aggressively and thoroughly.”

Josh Seeks Bail

Josh now says he is not a flight risk because his face is recognised by the public because of his family’s famous TV show.’

He also said he wanted to go home pending his trial because he wanted to be home with his wife Anna Duggar, 32, who is pregnant with their seventh child.

Documents go on to say that if Josh is released from prison, he will comply with any bail conditions granted by the court to ensure he will attend any future hearing in the case, and while giving reasons why he is not flight risk, the docs shockingly reveal he’s known about this federal criminal investigation since Nov. 2019. He “has no criminal convictions, and has known about this federal criminal investigation since November 2019 when Homeland Security Investigations executed a search of Duggar’s prior workplace,” the section read.

He further added that he had held an “open discussion” with the U.S. Attorney General’s Office through “legal counsel” and “continued to support his family through lawful employment” and says the feds can voluntarily self-surrender as he’s complied as directed. The docs also say the “Bail Reform Act requires that a court should ‘bear in mind that it is only a limited group of offenders who should be denied bail pending trial.’”

Previous Charges Against Josh

In 2015, Josh was also in the spotlight for admitting he molested four of his younger sisters and a babysitter when he was a teenager. The statue of limitations had run out for him to be prosecuted at the time so no legal action was taken. “I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation,” he said in a statement in 2015.

“We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

Josh’s bail application comes after his arrest by government officials in Washington County, Arkansas made headlines on April 29. A criminal lawyer told us he could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. In November 2019, an investigation involving Homeland Security lawyers raiding Springdale, the car dealershuip Josh had worked for made headlines. At the time, a spokesman for the Duggar family said it was untrue that “any member of our family is the victim of any investigation.”
