John David Washington and New Regency are teaming up as per sources after working together on David O. Russell’s next venture. According to sources, the Golden Globe-nominated actor is set to star in Gareth Edwards next, True Love for New Regency.
The upcoming venture is an original sci-fi project which is written and directed by Gareth, who is also directed Godzilla. Along with him, Kiri Hart will be acting as a producer for the project. Meanwhile, New Regency will be financing and producing the movie.
There is not much information provided about the plot except that it is a near-future sci-fi story. Gareth wanted to make sure that his next project was the right one before he committed to it. He had been developing several other projects after directing the Star Wars spin-off Rogue One. When he finally committed to a project and it hit the market, New Regency quickly made the jump to work with the director.
John has been rather busy after his critically acclaimed role in the Oscar-winning Spike Lee venture, BlacKkKlansman. The actor was seen in various hit ventures in the past year as he starred in the Christopher Nolan sci-fi Tenet. He was also a part of the Netflix drama, Malcolm & Marie. The SAG nominated actor was also starring in New Regency’s highly anticipated venture by David O. Russell. He will be seen starring alongside Christain Bale, Margot Robbie, and an impressive cast including other A-list actors.
Other than his Star Wars venture, Gareth is also known for directing the hit movie, Godzilla. If combined, both the movies earned $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office.
The upcoming venture of New Regency includes Adrian Lyne’s Deep Water and stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas. It is called Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. The movie is an adaptation of the musical featuring Richard E. Grant, Sharon Horgan, Sarah Lancashire, and newcomer Max Harwood.
It is an untitled original movie from David O. Russell and features Christian Bale, Margot Robbie; John David Washington, Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, and Chris Rock.
