Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita Welcome First Child Together

Jesse and his husband have welcomed their first baby together. The couple welcomed the child together on Tuesday.

The actor and his long time partner, Justin Mikita, have finally become parents. They have already named their bundle of joy Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita. Ferguson’s rep confirmed the news. The new parents are beyond happy to start their new journey.

The Modern Family fame and his husband first announced about expanding their family back in January. They revealed the information on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Jesse said it is something he did not mention to anyone at the time. He gushed about the new member of his family saying if they could keep it between them, he announced he is expecting the baby in July.

Jesse further added saying he is excited but he is 44 and he wants to get the show going. He joked about keeping it a secret between him, James, and fellow guest Charlie Hunnam, as well as the audience. James asked him if he knows the gender of the baby. The actor gushed and said he is having a human.

The couple celebrated by having a baby shower in February. The shower included a few of Jesse’s Modern Family co-stars like Sofia Vergara and Sarah Hyland. In an interview in 2017, Jesse had revealed that he and Justin wanted to be parents one day. He said, “We have been together for four years and we always said, ‘Let’s give ourselves five years just to be married,’ and that’s coming up five years.”

Jesse revealed the news after James asked him if he feels different now that he has turned 40. He replied saying it is because you finally become an adult.

Jesse and Justin announced their engagement back in 2012. The couple dated for two years before deciding to move forward. The pair got married a year later in 2013. Their wedding was officiated by Tony Kushner, a playwright, and screenwriter.

Modern Family wrapped up its last season after which Jesse became the host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in February. Ferguson had discussed preparing for fatherhood and also prepared for his play Take Me Out to an entertainment portal. His Broadway play was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jesse revealed in that interview that he is a preparer and a control freak. He continued saying fatherhood is not something you can prepare for but he can buy a crib. Jesse further said, “So, I know that fatherhood is something you can’t control and you can’t prepare for. Yes, I can buy a crib and you know, a diaper changing station. But beyond that, I sort of just have to wait and see.”

In the interview, he admitted that preparing for the show was a distraction from thinking too much about the new member. We wish the couple a lifetime of happiness and hope they are prepared for the sleepless night ahead.
