Jennifer Aniston Calls The Morning Show “20 Years of Therapy” in New Interview

Jennifer Aniston opened up about how it was like filming The Morning Show in an interview with LA Times.

The actress opened up about how few scenes felt so real to her and how truthful it was for her. She described the show as wrapping up 20 years of therapy into ten episodes. Jennifer revealed that when she was reading through scenes she felt a burden taken off of her back.

She described it as “cathartic,” but also a way to look at her own behavior.  The Friends alum said for her the show was interesting because she looked at how she normalized things.

Jennifer said, “and then there are moments where you have your private breakdown or your ‘Calgon, take me away’ moments,” she said, referencing an old bath powder commercial about a stressed-out woman who really needs a break. “To actually look at it from an actor’s brain observing it and acknowledging it, I had to look at it as opposed to pretending it doesn’t exist.”

The actress was a strong persona on the show and one of the highlights of the Apple Tv+ show. Her and Reese Witherspoon developed the series together and one such scene has come to light and is powerful.

Jennifer’s Stellar Performance on The Morning Show

Jennifer’s character, Alex was on her way to receive an award. She’s trying to fit everything she needs in her tiny red carpet purse while also dreading having to face the public as her professional life is in shambles. She has a full breakdown in the car and has to force herself to stop crying so she doesn’t ruin her makeup, but then steps out of the car all smiles to walk the carpet.

Jennifer says there have been moments where she has thought she does not want to be here or be seen. “‘I don’t want to be looked at and everyone’s going to be talking about me and judging me’ … that’s real,” Aniston said. The actress says she loves that she can actually lean into the feeling without feeling ashamed.

The second installment of The Morning Show is still under works. The cast shot two episodes and had to shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the show is expected to co-operate the current pandemic into their storyline as well. Jennifer told LA Times that she is spending the unexpected break with two families and watching shows like Queer Eye.

The actress received an Emmy Nomination for her outstanding performance in The Morning Show. It’s her seventh nomination overall, but would be her second win. She took home the prize for Lead Actress in a Comedy series in 2002 for playing everybody’s favorite, Rachel Karen Green.

Jennifer has been previously nominated six times but this counts as her first because of her return on Television.
