Jake Gyllenhaal’s intentions for a bank heist in the trailer for Ambulance

After starring in The Guilty, which was released on Netflix this month, Jake Gyllenhaal has been smitten with Danish cop-centric action remakes, with Michael Bay’s Ambulance on the radar. In Bay’s forthcoming film, Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II feature in a high-octane robbery thriller with loads of explosions, car crashes, and helicopter shots.

Ambulance, directed by Chris Fedak (Prodigal Son), stars Emmy Award winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen) as Will Sharp, an Afghanistan war veteran who, desperate for money to pay off his wife’s medical bills, asks his foster brother Danny, played by Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), for help.

Danny, who has always worked outside the law, then offers Will a risky proposition: plan and carry out the most daring bank robbery in Los Angeles ever. Will has no choice but to consent to the protection of his wife.

Official Trailer Released

Despite the film’s disappointing storyline, both Abdul-Mateen and Gyllenhaal have demonstrated that they can provide fantastic, suspenseful performances, which shine through in the trailer. Meanwhile, Chris Fedak authored the script, which is based on the original plot and screenplay for the 2005 Danish thriller Ambulance by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen. On February 18, the film Ambulance will be released in theatres.

The Guilty Teaser Out

Interestingly, since its release at film festivals in 2018, Miller’s film has been a favorite of Gyllenhaal’s, and it went on to become Denmark’s Oscar entry for Best International Feature. During the original film’s run, Gyllenhaal even acted as a moderator during Q&As, and his love for the picture eventually led him to acquire the remake rights.
