IND vs ENG 2021 : Jasprit Bumrah ready to become fastest Indian quick bowler to strike 100 Test Wickets

Jasprit Bumrah has been performing phenomenally in the ongoing India vs England test series in England with 12 wickets in his kitty already making him the top wicket taker in the series, three wickets ahead of England great James Anderson.Bumrah has surely overcome his rough patch of the WTC final against New Zealand which was held in England itself.Bumrah had been wicketless in the WTC final and questions were raised about his performance, some claiming that his poor performance was the major reason behind the setback of defeat handed by the Kiwis to the Indians.

However,in a mere span of two months,Bumrah has turned around his weak show and is helping India win the series against England, being 1-0 up now in the 5 match series. There never has been a doubt in the ability of Bumrah who has consistently and regularly put India forward with his magical spells and accurate yorkers. But with the poor form and also added to it his large number of no balls,Indian fans were concerned about their spearhead bowler.

With the sensational performance he is producing right now, there’s no doubt that Bumrah will reach the 100 wickets milestone in this series,if not in the 3rd test itself.Bumrah will be playing his 23rd test in the next match and if he does strike 5 more wickets,he will surpass Kapil Dev,who had achieved the milestone in 25 test matches,to become the fastest Indian pacer to reach 100 test wickets. This would be an absolutely remarkable achievement and will surely boost the morale of not only Bumrah but also of all the aspiring fast bowlers of whole India, who wish to don the blue jersey for their national team one day.

Bumrah’s best bowling figures of 6/27 came against West Indies two years ago which included a hattrick of top and middle order batsmen of the opposition team. Many analysts believe that Bumrah will have the pivotal role to play in this series as well as the T20 world cup coming up this year.Bumrah’s rise to the top has been one of sheer perseverance and self-belief,since many experts had believed that a bowler with such an unorthodox bowling style as Bumrah won’t be able to perform long and consistently at the international level, where demands are high and top replacements are available waiting to make a place in the team.

In the current Indian squad, only three Indian fast bowlers are active who have passed the 100 wickets mark in the white jersey.Ishant Sharma being way ahead of any other current Indian pacer with 311 wickets, next being Shami at 191 wickets to his name and Umesh Yadav, who is currently not selected in the squad, with 148 wickets to his tally. Many fans still feel the absence of legendary fast bowler Zaheer Khan, who retired from all forms of cricket in 2015,some still holding the cardboards bearing his name even now.Bumrah is well on his way to become the next big name in the fast bowling section for India, many looking up to him as an idol.
