Rapper Reveals She Welcomed a Son: ‘I Love Him Beyond Words’
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has announced that she has given birth to a baby boy.
The 30-year-old, whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, shares the news on her Instagram story. Saying she wants to make it clear she is not keeping his arrival a secret.
The rapper revealed on Instagram Wednesday that she recently welcomed her first child — a baby boy.
“I have a son,” Azalea began in a message on her Instagram Story. “I kept waiting for the right time to say something, but it feels like the more time passes, the more I realize I’m always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world.”
The Grammy nominee went on to write,
“I want to make his life private, but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret and I love him beyond words.”

TMZ reported last month that Iggy and Carti welcomed a baby boy together while sharing details of a new family-friendly 2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, reportedly purchased. That only led to more speculation.
In April, the Aussie clapped back at rumors that she and Playboi Carti had welcomed their first child. “It would be so great if you stopped paying any mind to random tea pages,” she tweeted at the time.
Despite the two dating, just before Christmas Day last year, while vacationing in Bali, Iggy wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post that she was single. At the time, pregnancy rumors were still coming full force. But she shut them down by sharing images of herself in a bikini.
Although Carti was not mentioned in Iggy’s IG post announcing her child, fans are assuming he is the father of her son. Carti and The New Classic rapper went public as a couple in September of 2018.
When an Instagram follower commented on her weight the following month, Azalea wrote, “Why do I have to be gaining weight because I want to post a few selfies. The obsession with my body you guys have is unhealthy. I posted a picture of my body just last week I HAVE A F–KING SIX PACK. Please get a life. Every image I post does not need to be of my body.”
Azalea was previously engaged to NBA player Nick Young before their 2016 split. Then she was dating French Montana and Odell Beckham Jr.
In July 2019, the “Fancy” rapper denied that Carti, 23, whose real name is Jordan Carter, had proposed to her despite the diamond ring she was wearing.
She gushed about the “Woke Up Like This” rapper to host Monét X Change at the time, saying, “The nicest thing that my guy does for me is he tells me when my wig lace is showing. He’s always like, ‘Babe, I know it can look better. It doesn’t look like it’s growing out of your head.’ It’s usually when I put it on [myself]. He’ll come out and be like, ‘I think you should wear a hat.’”
Azalea and Carti’s story
Azalea and Carti met in 2018 while she was on tour overseas. She started dating shortly after.
Three months after they confirmed their romance, the musicians decide to move in together. Confirming the big step in their relationship in a summer 2019 cover interview with Fader.
“Once I started talking to her, I just cut off everybody. It was over with,” he shared with the outlet, explaining how he and Azalea had moved to Atlanta from Los Angeles together. “I support everything she does.”
Things seemed to heat up in July for the couple when the “Fancy” rapper stepped out flaunting a massive diamond ring on her left hand. Fans instantly started speculating that the pair were engaged. The pair have yet to address it themselves.
Azalea and Carti were the target of a robbery in November. When they reported to authorities that $366,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from their suburban Atlanta rental home. According to an incident report obtained by PEOPLE.
Surveillance footage caught the suspect, entering their home from the back door at 9:51 p.m. He got spotted leaving the residence just a short time later at 9:58 p.m. But was not recorded at any point inside the home.
The stolen items included a $39,000 gold link Cuban chain, $70,000 worth of diamond eternity band rings. Along with a $10,000 rose gold Cartier bracelet and a $57,000 Audemars Piguet gold diamond-encrusted watch.
But perhaps the most interesting of all was the $35,000 diamond ring that was taken from the residence. Again suggesting that the “Magnolia” rapper had popped the question to Azalea.
