‘I Can’t Wait To Get Started With Them’: Steven Spielberg After Signing Exclusive Deal With Netflix

Steven Spielberg is a reputed and renowned filmmaker and a great screenwriter. As you all might be aware that he has recently signed a new contract with Netflix in which his production company, Amblin Partners, will make several films for the company annually.

The partnership has long been perpetrated by Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s content manager.

It is certainly a great way to get the company prospering amidst nail-biting competition by bringing perhaps the most popular film director to the streaming industry.

What Is The Exclusive Deal?

The deal which was announced on Monday does not specifically include any movies that will be directed by Spielberg.

This December, the director is set to release the “West Side Story” in theater with Disney’s 20th Century Studios. Amblin has a separate agreement with Universal Pictures for theater productions.

Spielberg’s Statement

“In Amblin, storytelling will always be the center of everything we do, and from the moment Ted and I started talking about cooperation, it was clear we had a wonderful opportunity to tell new stories together and reach audiences in new ways,” Spelberg said in a statement. 

“This new approach to our films, as well as the stories we continue to share with our longtime Universal family and other partners, will be of great benefit to me personally as we enter with Ted, and I can’t wait to start with him, Scott, and the rest of the Netflix team. ”

Amblin took its name from 1968 short directorial by Spielberg has helped produce a variety of films besides the ones made my Spielberg, including “1917” and “Green Book.”

The two companies have worked together on several TV series and in Aaron Sorkin’s movie “The Trial of Chicago 7,” an Amblin co-produced film sold by Paramount Pictures on Netflix during the pandemi .

Spielberg has sometimes been seen as against a streaming future for movies. A Deadline Hollywood headline on Monday’s announcement wondered: “Hell Freezes Over?”
