Here’s why Shah Rukh Khan had rejected DDLJ four times!

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge starring Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most loved and most popular films of the Indian cinema!

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is known as the king of romance. His romantic roles in the films have gained him this title. But he hadn’t started off in the industry as a romantic hero. In his early days, he was actually popular for his negative roles. But we are happy that the actor experimented with his roles.

One of his most romantic Bollywood films include Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. But do you all know that SRK had rejected the role four times?

In a documentary shared a ScoopWhoop, he can be heard saying, “I never wanted to do a romantic role. Because by the time I joined films I was 26. Normally romantic films meant that you started off from a college and then you work your way up into romance and then run away with a girl, or committed suicide with a girl. I thought I was too old to be a romantic hero.”

Shah Rukh went on to reveal the reason of not wanting to do the film. He explained how he was popular at that time for his negative roles in films like Darr and Baazigar. He believed that he was growing in the industry only because of those roles.

After he turned down Aditya Chopra’s offer, Yash Chopra himself talked to him saying, “You must take up romantic roles on the big screens if you want to survive in the industry.”
