Harry Styles teams up with Calm app to narrate bedtime stories
Harry Styles latest collaboration with Calm app will allow you to fall asleep to the soothing sound of his voice. There has been no better time than now to practice some calming meditation amidst the world’s chaos. On Sunday, Calm’s official Twitter account teased the upcoming collaboration with a Watermelon emoji. Fans grew even more excited when Harry himself liked the post.
The app confirmed the news on Monday, July 6, which led to fans speculating about what he might read. Louis the Fish is currently the most popular choice. However, there hasn’t been an official word yet on what story Styles is reading. All we know is that the collaboration is set to drop on July 8.
The official Tweet
Calm tweeted: ‘Wednesday. #DreamWithHarry,’ alongside a video of the singer narrating in his beautiful soothing voice, ‘Hello. I’m Harry Styles.’ Just those four words were enough to send his fans into a frenzy, with many rushing to subscribe.
Calm is an app for sleep, meditation, and relaxation that offers sleep stories voiced by stars like Matthew McConaughey, Kelly Rowland and many more. Very recently Chris Hemsworth joined the bandwagon by recording meditation lessons for kids via his Centr fitness app. The recordings were made to help kids reset and chill out after losing their school routine during this lockdown.
Long overdue collaboration
Harry is being praised by his fans for prioritizing mental health during such trying times. Styles’ collaboration with Calm has actually been a long time coming. The app originally tweeted out the idea of the former One Direction member reading a “Sleep Story” back in August 2018. “RT if you dream of @Harry_Styles reading a Sleep Story for @calm,” the tweet read. It took a couple of years, but Calm is now proving that dreams really do come true.
What’s most surprising is that it took 2 years for the collaboration to happen. Especially since Styles has been an advocate for the app since he became one of its earliest investors in June of 2018. The meditation and sleep-centric mental health app’s goal is to help people “reduce stress, sleep better and handle anxiety.” according to co-founder Michael Acton Smith.
“I’ve definitely felt it have an impact on my life”
Styles has been quite a vocal advocate for mental health. The singer has openly discussed how therapy has helped him in the past, and shared his experience with anxiety. In November 2019, Harry sat down for an interview with Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio host Zane Lowe. The singer opened up about how going to therapy after initially resisting the idea had been beneficial to him and those around him. “It’s been a thing where I’ve definitely felt it have an impact on my life. And it’s something that I’ve kind of introduced some friends to, who were going through stuff,” he said.
Calm isn’t a substitute for therapy, but in these uncertain times the meditation app offers a way for anyone with a smartphone to engage in some much deserved self-care.
