Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Will Be Worth the Wait, According to Chris Pratt

After an emotional first day of filming, Chris Pratt promises that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be worth the wait.

In the Marvel franchise, Pratt reprises his role as Star-Lord/Peter Quill in the third installment, directed by James Gunn.

Pratt famously underwent a makeover for the character, which he has reprised four times (with a fifth scheduled for the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder), including the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films, as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

GOTG 3 Will Be Worth

When some of Gunn’s prior “offensive” comments resurfaced, Disney fired him from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. After directing DC’s The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros., Gunn was hired back for Guardians after Disney changed its mind. Gunn is now filming the new Marvel feature, which will be released in 2022, back-to-back with a planned Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

The release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was originally set for May 2020, but due to Gunn’s temporary removal and the COVID-19 outbreak, the film was pushed back to May 5, 2023.

Chris Pratt has now shared the same cast photo as Gunn from the first day of filming, expressing his feelings about the start of work. The day couldn’t have started off any better, according to the actor, with a “delicate, emotional, humorous, wild, complicated scene” that “everyone completely killed.” Pratt then praises Gunn as a “mad genius,” saying that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 “will be worth the wait.”

Pratt is fresh off the success of Amazon’s original film The Tomorrow War and has plenty of upcoming projects. Next year, he’ll reprise his role as Owen Grady in Jurassic World: Dominion, as well as the Amazon series The Terminal List, based on Jack Carr’s novel.

Pratt recently sparked debate when he was cast as Mario’s voice in Illumination and Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. animated blockbuster, as well as the voice of Garfield in a new animated film based on the legendary comic strip cat.
