Netflix has released a new The Witcher season 2 teaser video, which shows Henry Cavill’s main protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, for the first time. The series is based on the same-named novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and follows Geralt as he journeys over the mediaeval continent known as The Continent, fighting demonic opponents.
CD Projekt Red’s critically acclaimed video game series based on the novels initially brought the property to the attention of American consumers in the late 2000s.
After a mixed reaction to the novel’s film and TV adaptations in Poland, Netflix began work on a new Witcher as a movie before an executive at the streaming company pushed for a series instead. With Cavill’s addition in late 2018, the show debuted to positive reviews and high viewership in late 2019, soon securing a season 2 order as well as the animated spin-off feature Nightmare of the Wolf and the live-action prequel limited series Blood Origin for Netflix.
Despite being delayed by Cavill’s on-set injury and COVID-19-related production delays, the following episode was finally completed in April, and the streaming platform is building up excitement for its release.

With that said, fans will have to wait a little longer to discover more about The Witcher season 2. Those who have followed both forms of the material won’t have to wait long to discover what the future holds for the property, as the unique WitcherCon event Netflix and CD Projekt Red are throwing this July promises to provide exclusive surprises for both the series and video game franchise. Season 2 of The Witcher is set to air on Netflix later this year.
