Filming on Black Panther 2 has been halted until January 2022

The development of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be delayed until January 2022 to allow star Letitia Wright to heal from her injuries.

Along with Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett, Wright returns for the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.

Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, better known as Ironheart, and Michaela Coel in an unconfirmed role are also introduced to the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Filming on Black Panther 2

Following the death of Chadwick Boseman from colon cancer, returning co-writer/director Ryan Coogler had to make revisions to his original script, and the plot for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is presently unknown.

Marvel and Coogler decided not to recast T’Challa and instead pursued a new concept, finally starting production on the picture in late June 2021 with the majority of the original cast. However, as the year draws to a close, filming on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is still experiencing challenges.

Deadline confirmed that filming on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been delayed until January 2022, after it was stated earlier this month that work had been halted. The production halt is due to Wright’s need for extra time to heal from an on-set accident that was discovered to be more serious than initially assumed, as she suffered a fractured shoulder and concussion.

The development of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been rocky since the loss of Chadwick Boseman last year, and it has continued to suffer, particularly with Wright. The Emmy-nominated actress was hospitalized with minor injuries two months after filming began, but production continued to work around her, despite reports that Wright had expressed anti-COVID-19 vaccine beliefs on site.

Despite her denials on social media, speculations continue to circulate that the film could be delayed even longer beyond the January resumption date due to her refusal to take the vaccination.
