FIA Books Meesha Shafi & 8 Others Over Dirty Attacks Against Singer Ali Zafar

On Monday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing charged singer Meesha Shafi and eight others for their affirmed association in a besmirching campaign against Ali Zafar. On the order of the FIA special court, the FIR against the defendants was filed for a non-cognizable crime.

Meesha Shafi, Haseemuz Zaman Khan, actor-host Iffat Omar, Fariha Ayub, Maham Javaid, Leena Ghani, Ali Gul, Syed Faizan Raza, and Humna Raza have been charged. Besides, the accused are booked under section 20 (1) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and R/W 109-PPC.

The singer and actor Ali Zafar had filed a complaint with the FIA cybercrime wing in November 2018. He alleged many social media platforms were posting “threats and defamatory material” against him. Furthermore, he gave details of some Twitter and Facebook accounts to back his case.

The FIR

“A twitter account @nehasaigol1, which posted 3,000 defamatory tweets against me and my family only in one year, [was] created 50 days before Meesha’s allegations of sexual harassment,” Zafar told FIA.

The FIR says Shafi could not provide any witness in her favor. As per the FIR, Leena Ghani was also summoned, but she did not appear and sent a statement that was not adequate.

“She [Ms. Ghani] was found involved in publicly posting defamatory content against the complainant on Twitter on April 19, 2018. Fariha Ayub and Maham Javaid were also summoned four times but they did not turn up to join the inquiry. Iffat Omar appeared but did not record her statement with the request to give her time, but despite repeated requests failed to record her statement,” the FIR states.

The FIR states Ali Gull, from his Twitter ID @Aligulpir, posted disparaging remarks against Ali.

“He was summoned thrice, but he deliberately did not turn up and submitted his statement to the FIA Karachi.”

However, FIR says the statement of Gull was unsatisfactory. Likewise, the statement of Humna Raza was also no adequate. Besides, the FIR says, FIA summoned Haseemuz Zaman for 4times but he did not appear.

In conclusion, Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of harassment and filed a lawsuit against the actor-singer. However, she could not produce any solid evidence so far.
