‘Fast & Furious’ Franchise To End With Two More Installments

The Fast & Furious hit franchise is ending with two more installments. The franchise had begun back in 2001 and has not failed to become one of the most super hit blockbusters we have ever seen.

According to reports, the film will end with 11 films and Justin Lin will be directing the next two and final movies. Justin has directed the upcoming movie, F9 which is said to be in post-production at the moment.

The Fast and the Furious franchise started way back 20 years ago in 2001. It has gained $5.89 billion at its worldwide box office. The Fate of the Furious, which was the last film of the franchise released in 2017 gained around $1.23 billion. The franchise also has had spin-offs which also did well at the box office. 2019’s Hobbs & Shaw was one of the spin-offs.

The film circulated around illegal street racing initially and it starred Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, and Gal Gadot.

However, since 2009, the focus of the film’s franchise has shifted to heists and spying. They also introduced new characters to the franchise played by  Charlize Theron, Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Djimon Hounsou, and John Cena.

For the next two films, there is speculation of the films being focused on space. Michelle teased back in September that the plot might be centered on outer space in an interview. She was questioned about being in space with Ludacris to which she responded, “Oh, no way! How did you guys find that out?”

Michelle continued, “See what happens? People start talking behind the scenes, man. When a movie doesn’t come out and forget about it, things get out.” And she clarified saying nobody was supposed to know that.

Seth Rogen also teased a possible outer-space situation and tweeted, “About ten years ago, me and @evandgoldberg were with one of the producers of The Fast and Furious franchise. Evan said as a joke, ‘they should go to space!’ The producer looked at us, dead serious, and said…’ not yet’.”

However, fans should not lose heart as the end of the franchise does not mean the end of the spin-offs. The spin-offs based on the characters are still in development.
