The show is a Netflix original comic series featuring well-known names like Ricky Gervais, who portrays the role of Tony. The storyline of Afterlife is as follows: “Tony has suffered an enormous loss with the passing of his wife and is left behind trying to pick up the pieces and find a new purpose.”

The second season of the show was watched more than the first, according to Gervais. After being released on April 24, 2020, the show’s second season experienced massive interest from the audience. This prompted Netflix to renew the show for a third and final season.

When Afterlife was renewed for season 3, Ricky took to his official Twitter handle to say “Because so many of you watched #AfterLife2 so quickly and made it Number 1 again, the nice people at Netflix have suggested that I get off my fat arse and do another season.”

When Will Afterlife Season3 Release?

About the release date, there is no certainty as to when shall the third season of the show go live. No confirmation regarding the release date has been announced so far but since the trailer is out and filming is wrapped up, the industry experts predict Afterlife Season 3 to hit the screens in December 2021 or early 2022.

In April 2021, Ricky Gervais confirmed that filming was due to start on Monday, April 19th. According to entertainment tabloid WhatsonNetflix, the filming of the third season of Afterlife took place throughout the Spring and into the summer with filming wrapping on June 4th after 35 days of filming.
