Everything Chrishell Says About Her Divorce on the ‘Selling Sunset’

Chrishell Stause has given us a little more information about her divorce from This Is Us star, Justin Hartley. On the latest season of Selling Sunset, Chrishell reveals details that the fans did not know. She took her audience on a journey that was unexpected.

When the trailer for the third installment released, Chrishell said she is going to go under a rock and under a grid. She says it is not an ideal situation to be a part of when you have cameras rolling all the time. The daytime actress said, “It was not something I would have chosen obviously, but hopefully the viewers will follow us along the journey and be kind.”

Justin filed for divorce back in November 2019 citing irreconcilable differences. Although he listed their separation back in July when the couple did make an appearance together even after that. Sources said their friends were shocked by his filing as well because the couple seemed to be incredible all the time. Their friends think this came from Justin’s side because of something that happened between the couple.

The details of the couple’s split have been under wraps ever since. But Selling Sunset offered a lot of tea from Chrishell’s point of view. The realtor said she truly loves him and the timing of everything and the things that happened are unfortunate. She added she had a month to go for the shoot when all of this happened.

Chrishell told ET that she hopes one day they will look at all this and laugh but she isn’t sure. The actress said it is unfortunate and relationships are hard. Selling Sunset season 3 has a lot of references related to Justin. In the premiere, Chrishell talks about the ‘dream house’ the couple bought and making it their home.

Chrishell Knew Justin Would be Her Husband

Mary Fitzgerald talks to Chrishell in episode 3 about the couple and says they seemed the happiest and the most perfect couple. Chrishell said in a confessional that Justin was the one for her. She was so sure about it that she texted one of the bridesmaids the day she met Justin telling her that she found her husband.

Justin and Chrishell started dating in 2014 after meeting on the set of The Young and the Restless. They got engaged in 2016 and married in 2017. The couple never had any children together, but Justin does have a 16-year-old daughter, Isabella, from a previous relationship.

Chrishell says Justin is more patient than she is but she thought she would be a mother at this point. She talks about this with Mary when the topic of kids comes up. The realtor also said that things change and that Justin is her person. In the following two episodes, Chrishell holds a charity event.

It included an auction featuring items including a signed This Is Us cast poster and a coffee date with Justin. Chrishell gushes proudly saying that is her husband. But the day after the event, Christine informs her group of agents saying she got a Google alert that Justin filed for divorce.

“She was totally fine,” Heather Rae Young says. “We were just with her. … It makes me feel sick.” In the sixth episode, Mary meets Chrishell to discuss her divorce. She was moved to the Five Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills temporarily after being ‘blindsided’ about her divorce.

“I found out because he texted me..”

Chrishell told her that she was shocked and that she is trying to keep it all together. But she says it is a lot all at once because the world knows at the same time she does. Mary asked her what went wrong between the couple noting that everything seemed fine. Chrishell agreed everything was fine but she found out because he texted her that he filed and 45 minutes later the world knew.

“We had a fight that morning over the phone and I had never seen him since,” she then reveals in a confessional. “We didn’t talk things through, and before we had a chance to figure things out, he filed.” She went on saying because of the crazy way things happened people want answers and so does she.

Chrishell said, “I talked to him right after, ’cause I thought that must be a joke, but that was kinda the end of the communication. What am I supposed to say? What would, what do you say after that? It’s like now, I have to find a place to live. Now I have to scramble and figure this out, you know?”

The realtor further says that for her in a marriage one should work things out. She said in a testimonial, “They’re not perfect. No one is. You work on it. You talk about it. You… ugh, I just… you don’t throw out — you don’t go out looking for greener grass.”

She continues, “Sometimes you have to water the grass that you have. That’s what marriage is. Sometimes it can be hard. I mean, I don’t think it should be more hard than easy, at all, but that’s why I’m so confused, ’cause I didn’t feel like that balance was off. I just feel stupid.”

Chrishell Wrote a Letter to Stepdaughter

Amanza asked Chrishell if she ever got to say goodbye to her stepdaughter, Isabella. She started crying and said she loves her so much and that she had to write her a letter. The actress said that both people have to fight for a relationship. She also said a lot has changed since the six years they were together and the two years they were married.

“I mean, I didn’t know him before. His life is, just went, like, sky-high. I don’t know what that does to somebody’s head or…” Amanza offers, referencing Justin’s rise from soap opera hunk to A-lister on primetime TV. Chrishell said she does not care about that and that she met him before all that happened.

At the end of the episode, Chrishell visits the Oppenheim Group offices to let Jason Oppenheim know she needs a little time to process everything. He agrees and encourages her to take her time. She announces that she’ll be visiting family to “just figure this out”. She admits that all the attention had been very overwhelming for her.

Chrishell at one point says the way she found out about the divorce is disrespectful to her. She says instead of sitting her down and talking to her, he just made a decision and all of it in the public eye. The realtor said, “I would’ve done anything for him,” she professes. “You work so hard to, like, make choices to prop someone up and support their life and what they want, and now all of a sudden I’m like, wait a minute. What do I want?”

Season 3 finished filming last December, but Chrishell and Justin’s divorce is yet to be finalized in court.
