Eminem takes on the coronavirus, police violence

Eminem talks about police violence, coronavirus, and Drew Brees in his new video with Kid Cudi.

Eminem and Kid Cudi join forces to release new music which is about the current situation of the world. The video is titled ‘The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady’. This is the first time Kid Cudi and Eminem are collaborating for new music which revolves around the issues we are facing today.

The music is about coronavirus pandemic, police violence which was raised because of the death of George Floyd. It also mentions New Orleans Quarterback Drew Brees. The song was released at midnight on Monday where Eminem touches on important topics. Kid Cudi’s part does not involve the issues. The rapper also reflects on rehab and recovery.

In the song, Eminem raps: “Prayers to George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery/ How the f— is it that so many cops are dirty?/ Stop, man, please, officer, I’m sorry/ But I can’t breathe when I got you on top of me/ Your goddamn knee’s on my carotid artery.” He rapped about the police brutality which awakened protests all across the world.

George Floyd was a black man, restrained by four police officers. One of the officers knelt on Floyd’s neck, pressing his air passage, leading to his death. In a video that went viral, George was heard pleading the officer to leave him as he could not breathe.

However, the officer was inconsiderate towards his pleadings and did not leave. When the video went viral, people were outraged regarding police brutality and racial prejudice. They have been opposing the police and supporting the family to seek justice against the police officers.

Eminem had some thoughts about Drew Brees as well. He said last month that he would “never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag” by kneeling a’ la Colin Kaepernick. Eminem’s rap goes: “Got a Lil’ green (Yeah). But I don’t do weed (Nope). Purp nor lean (Nah). That’s Tunechi (Yeah). That’s New Orleans (What?) Fuck Drew Brees (Yeah).”

Eminem also had some opinions about the political leadership amid the pandemic. He rapped: “Bunch of half-wits up in office / Half of us walking around like a zombie apocalypse. Other half are just pissed off and / Don’t wanna wear a mask and they’re just scoffing. And that’s how you end up catching the shit off ’em. I just used the same basket as you shopping / Now I’m in a f—in’ casket from you coughin.'”

Eminem called out people who needed to wear a mask. And he gave them the exact facts about the consequences of not wearing one.

According to Billboard, Eminem’s latest release, Music to be Murdered By, represents his 10th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. While Cudi will star in the upcoming HBO series, We Are Who We Are.
