Ellen DeGeneres will not be quitting her show despite rumors and allegations about the show’s toxic work environment. Ellen’s show was accused of a toxic work environment after former and current employees came forward claiming they face bullying and racism.
Last week, The Ellen Show faced allegations of sexual misconduct at three-show producers. They claim Ellen turned a blind eye to the toxicity around her. Sources revealed that Ellen was thinking about leaving the show after sustaining a mounting wave of negative press and few defenders.
It was revealed that her show will be under investigation by WarnerMedia. Actors like Brad Garrett and Leah Thompson also added to the allegations saying it is common knowledge that the TV host had a reported mean streak.
Sources also alleged that James Corden will be the possible replacement of Ellen on the show as the host. However, Ellen has no plans to step down from her TV career. It is reported that she plans to come back to work later this month.
An email received by one of the producers says that Ellen will be back on set by August 24. It also mentioned that the show will premiere on September 9 and she will be doing ‘Ellen Games of Games’ by later this month. ‘We know that these last few days have been a lot to take in and process for everyone,’ read part of the email.
Ellen Receives Backlash From Few Celebrities
An insider also revealed that Ellen is adamant about protecting the long-time career that she has built. She is trying to protect what she stands for and also the show. It is also revealed that she is very upset with the events that took place and is determined to fix the problems. The insider said, “She takes full responsibility. But no way is she quitting the show. That’s total BS,” they told The Post.
Earlier this week, it was reported from an insider that Ellen is telling executives at Telepictures and Warner Bros that she has had enough and wants to walk away from the show. It is reported that she feels like she needs to stop and the only way to recover from this is to stop the show. ‘The truth is she knew what was going on, it’s her show. The buck stops with her. She can blame every executive under the sun – but Ellen is ultimately the one to blame,’ they said.
However, among the many celebrities that have entered the show, only a few have come in support while others have done the opposite. Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad came forward and took to Twitter and tagged her claiming it was common knowledge. He tweeted, ‘Sorry but it comes from the top @TheEllenShow’. Know more than one who was treated horribly by her. Common knowledge.’
Scooter Braun Defends Ellen
Brad’s claims were surprisingly supported by Back of the Future actor Lea Thompson. She said it is a true story responding to the actor’s tweet. Manager, Scooter Braun, and radio host, Kyle Sandilands has been the only one who has supported Ellen.
Braun, who has had Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande as his clients, said people love to take shots at others. ‘They love to see people fall. How quickly so many forget. @TheEllenShow is a kind, thoughtful, courageous human being; who stands for what is right and highlights on her show the best of us. She has helped change the views for equality,’ he wrote.
Braun further added that he needed to say as he knows how she helps so many when we are watching and when we are not. He wrote Ellen is not about what is popular but what is right. Braun also sent his love and regards to the host.
However, Kylie said that the backlash coming towards Ellen is a bit unfair. He said, “You know what these things are like… It’s never the star that goes on and insists these things happen. It’s always the idiots that are around them,” Kyle said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show Friday.
He continued, “Producers mainly, publicists, they’ve really got an attitude problem. And I know what they’re trying to do. The publicists, they make these stars look like a**eholes, and not on purpose.”
James Corden Might be a Possible Replacement
Social media has been flooded with upset fans and followers of the show while Hollywood has not responded to the allegations against the show. The dilemma of Ellen’s TV show may have created an opening for James Corden to slip into her daytime slot. Insiders with NBC Network told The Sun that the Late Late Show host is in line to replace Ellen.
Corden was reportedly viewed as ‘the long term successor’ to Ellen even before the scandal exploded in the last several weeks. NBC Entertainment Chairman Paul Telegdy is reportedly a member of the executive team supervising the investigation into the grave charges lodged at The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He will contribute to deciding the future of the program.
Apparently, Paul is a big fan of James according to The Sun. It is also reported that he has James at his wanted list for talent and a long term replacement for Ellen. The Sun reported, ‘Paul is a huge fan of what James does on screen. He already has a huge devoted audience, global appeal, and is loved by Hollywood. Replacing Ellen was always going to be a tough challenge, but he is a natural fit and easy transition.’
