How come?” the comedian asked, as she sat on the couch in a grey and white flannel next to one of her pups, before playing a game of Connect Four.

Ellen reportedly tapes her episodes of The Ellen Show at least a day in advance. However, on Thursday, the episode of October 15 was re-run. This also meant the cancellation of the final day of Ellen’s well-known 12 Days of Giveaways holiday promotional series. It typically has a lot of sponsors and high ratings.
A promo that aired during the re-run teased the return of giveaways days ‘tomorrow’, suggesting some version of the final day may air on Friday. On Last Wednesday’s episode, it was as per the schedule as she included in-studio guests including singer Leslie Odom Jr.
During last year, the 12 Days of Giveaways promotion was later in the season. However, this year the daily gifts are being given to frontline workers, first responders, medical workers, and families that have been impacted by the pandemic the most.
Her diagnosis comes a day after Buzzfeed News reportedly claimed that she was struggling to attract sponsors and A-list guests for this year’s holiday giveaway series. According to the outlet, a current employee of The Ellen Show that the show’s giveaway segments have noticed a bit of a flounder.
This can be because of reports of the show’s “toxic” workplace culture. “In a typical year, ‘12 Days of Giveaways‘ is huge. We’ve basically claimed Christmas on daytime TV. When you think of Christmas on TV, you think of The Ellen Show,” the employee said.
The employee shared that everyone wants to be in the audience and everyone wants gifts. They also revealed that the show lines up all these crazy sponsors and people love that. However, according to the employee, their 12 Days is more condensed as they don’t have many sponsors.
However, a source close to the show claimed the statement is false, inaccurate. Their 12 Days of Giveaways usually focuses on lavish trips and vacations and had to be radically changed due to the realities of the ongoing pandemic. The show’s Season 18 guests have included Matthew McConaughey, Justin Bieber, Jane Fonda, Chance the Rapper, Kristen Bell and Orlando Bloom, among others.
