During the quarantine, without tennis, Djokovic is unwinding in an anxious manner

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is a Serbian professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 1 in men’s singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals.

Novak Djokovic (Nole) was born on 22 May 1987 in Belgrade, SR Serbia, Yugoslavia, to parents Srđan and Dijana. He is of paternal Serbian and maternal Croatian descent. His two younger brothers, Marko and Djordje, have also played professional tennis.

A resident of Monte Carlo, Djokovic was coached by former Slovak tennis player Marián Vajda from 2006 until Boris Becker took over the role of head coach in December 2013. Djokovic is a self-described fan of languages, speaking Serbian, French, German, and Italian.

Effect of Lockdown on racquet players

The tennis year is crazy: It started with a giant problem in Australia, with forest fires. The tournament went well, but we know the serious problems the country had. Now we are in a worse time. As tennis players, we have a big problem: it is a totally globalized sport. In other words, the Argentine or Brazilian soccer league, the NBA, to give examples, will be able to return if those countries have controlled the virus. But not in tennis. The world will have to control the virus for tennis to return. And that’s where the problem lies; tennis will be one of the last sports to return to normal activity. For those of who work in tennis, the situation is worrying.

Novak’s word

Unfortunately, after a glorious start in Belgrade, things went south in Zadar. There was a lot of criticism on social media for the lack of physical distancing.

Then, on Sunday night, came the news that Dimitrov has tested positive for Covid-19. The Adria tour was canceled at the last moment and there were calls for players to get tested.

But not for the first time since the lockdown started, Djokovic has chosen to follow his own not-so-correct path. Despite interacting with Dimitrov, the Serb has said that he will not be getting tested for Covid-19 because he has no symptoms.

Without any tennis being played on the courts, Djokovic has worryingly courted controversy with alarming regularity during the lockdown.
