Dua Lipa Becomes The Most-Played Singer In UK In 2020
Lipa’s songs last year have been played far more than any other artist on the British radio and television, thanks to Future Nostalgia, the award-winning album of her.
She put an end to the reign of Ed Sheeran, who since 2017, every year happens to be the most famous and most played artist of the year in UK.
Top 10 most popular songs of the United Kingdom had two of Dua’s songs, Physical and Don’t Start Now.
The most popular tracks as a whole was Blinding Lights by the Weeknd.
These figures were compiled by a music licensing company PPL, who oversees the music that is being played on the radio, and television, as well as the clubs in the area.
It is said that Sheeran was the second most popular artist of the year, followed by Ariana Grande and Sam Smith.
Album Future Nostalgia was released just four days after the United Kingdom went into lockdown in March of last year.
“I’ve been a little bit conflicted about whether it’s the right thing to do during this time because lots of people are suffering,” she said at the time.
The album was the soundtrack to the quarantine period for a lot of people.
“It was a difficult decision to make, but some things are just meant to be,”the 25-year-old told the BBC earlier this year. “I’m just thankful that it was a form of escapism at the moment.
“My whole idea was to create a fun-filled track where everyone can enjoy themselves while at home, and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity.”
Future Nostalgia went on to become the best-selling album of 2020 in the UK, won the Album of the Year in the Uk, the Brit Awards and was also awarded for the Best Pop Album at an award show.
