Demi Lovato Performs Political Ballad ‘Commander in Chief’ at 2020 Billboard Music Awards
Demi Lovato uses her platform to tell fans and viewers something very important. The singer took to the stage of Billboard Music Awards 2020 on Wednesday to perform her powerful song, Commander in Chief.
Demi wore a bright blue ensemble, pairing it with diamond necklaces. She sang the very powerful lyrics of her political ballad which was released just recently. The singer also had the support of backup singers delivering a beautiful and simple edition of the track.
While she was singing, VOTE appeared on the screen in big and bold letters right behind her. The singer teased her new song on social media on Tuesday. She shared a video of a Black girl lip-syncing to the lyrics. “Were you ever taught when you were young… If you mess with things selfishly, they’re bound to come undone? I’m not the only one that’s been affected and resented every story you’ve spun.”
The singer released the entire version of her song on Wednesday morning. She also announced that she will be dropping a music video at 11 pm after the BBMAs.
Fans were speculating about Demi’s performance for the Billboard. Some fans thought she will be performing her break-up anthem, Still Have Me. Demi’s fans are convinced that her recent release with Still Have Me is a reference to her broken engagement with Max Ehrich.
The singer has not yet addressed her messy break-up and has been unbothered by the efforts of her ex. Max has been very vocal about his feelings and has shared images of him crying. He was also allegedly spotted by the paparazzi, crying on the Malibu beach where he proposed to Demi.

Demi Lovato opened up about how she realized she was queer and she revealed that it has to do with Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Demi said she realized she was queer because of the classic movie scene. The singer revealed that during Facebook’s Coming Out 2020 event on Friday, October 9. She said she revealed more about her sexuality while watching the 1999 film Cruel Intentions.
Demi said she was young and noted that she should not have been watching Cruel Intentions but she did. She explained it was the scene where the actors were making out on the park lawn. The actress explained, “I was just like, ‘Oh wait a minute, I really like that, I want to try it.’ And then when I was 17 I did get down with that.”
The well-known movie moment takes place on a blanket in a park, where Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) teaches Cecile Caldwell (Selma Blair) how to kiss and get to first base. “Haven’t you ever practiced on one of your girlfriends?” Merteuil asks. After they make out, Caldwell says, “That was cool.”
