Demi Lovato Lost Her ‘Joy’ For Music Because Of The ‘Hustle’

Demi Lovato reveals that she lost her joy for music because of the hustle of the industry. She reveals that she felt miserable at one point in her life because of all the pressure from the industry.

Although now, Demi wants to focus on her music and the message she is trying to portray instead of focusing on her looks. She says she wants a career that has nothing to do with her body. ‘I want a career that has nothing to do with my body. I want it to be about my music and my lyrics and my message,’ the singer told Bustle.

Demi added that she wants a long-lasting career but without changing herself. She reveals music brought her so much joy when she was younger. But she says she lost the joy throughout all the hustle and bustle of the music industry. She further reveals that she was miserable and she never wants to be like that again.

Demi also revealed that her body image was so bad that she had a minder to keep an eye on her meals. She further said that she had people keeping an eye on her a day before a photoshoot to make sure she doesn’t binge or eat and be swollen the next day.

The singer says it is a different world now because she does not even have to prepare for photoshoots. She says she can eat Subway for breakfast. Demi further reveals that the lockdown has allowed her to be more in sync with her emotions and be open to crying. ‘Before quarantine, it was very difficult for me to cry,’ said Lovato. She further reveals that she prepared herself to the only cry when she gets paid for it back when she was 16.

Demi says that she has put all this work into herself, allowing herself to feel the pain, the losses, and the traumas she has faced. She thinks that her ability to be vulnerable and be more intimate with people has heightened.

Demi further revealed that she used to project her abandonment issues onto other people who were like a father figure. She said she had to reflect on how she wanted her relationship to be with her manager, without embarking the same issues onto him. Demi Lovato hired Scooter Braun to help her get back after completing her treatment. Scooter is also Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s manager.

Scooter revealed that he hadn’t planned on taking Demi as his client until they met in person. He revealed he saw that she needed someone who did not need her. Halfway through the meeting, Braun looked at his partners and laughed. Braun further explained how he could help Demi. “I’ve been through that with Justin. I’ve been through that with Ariana, you know?” he told the outlet. “I felt like because I’ve been through that a couple of times with people who started off very young, I can understand [Demi’s] struggles a little bit.”

Earlier in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that she felt like her former team “controlled” her. She revealed that they used to take her phone out of the room so she could not call room service. And if there was a fruit in her room because it is extra sugar. She said, “Like, we’re not talking about brownies, and cookies, and candy, it was fruit. For many years I didn’t even have a birthday cake, I had a watermelon cake. I just really wanted a birthday cake.”

Demi Lovato will have a youtube docuseries in which she will showcase the journey of her recent music and sobriety. She says she feels stronger than ever as she works with coaches, dieticians, and spiritual advisers.

The singer is also dating Max Ehrich and they seem so in love. She confirmed in the Bustle interview that the couple is living together. A source also previously revealed that the pair are very serious about each other. The source also said that they are thinking about getting engaged. “Her family really likes him. He’ll likely propose within the next couple of months, but when quarantine is over.”
