Crime Drama Bloodlands To Come Up With Second Series

The BBC’s crime drama Bloodlands, held in Northern Ireland and starring local actor James Nesbitt, will return with the second series.

The first series was completed early Sunday night after being launched last month with an average view of 8.2 million viewers.

Biggest Broadcaster Show In Ireland

The BBC has said that the viewing segment of the first episode of NI made it the launch of the broadcaster’s biggest show.

Nesbitt said he was very pleased with the return of the second series.

“I’m always happy to be back in Northern Ireland and to reveal even more about Tom Brannick,” said Nesbitt.

Absolute Delight

It will also be recorded in Belfast and surrounding areas, including Strangford Lough in County Down.

Chris Brandon, who wrote the drama, said he was “absolutely delighted that Tom Brannick’s story will continue”.

Richard Williams, chief executive of Northern Ireland Screen, said: “It gives us a great sense of pride to see millions of viewers across the UK tune into a drama not just made, but set in Northern Ireland.”

The first series also starred Charlene McKenna as DS Niamh McGovern, Lorcan Cranitch as police chief Jackie Twomey and Lisa Dwan as Tori Matthews, a teaching doctor at Queen’s University.
