Bollywood star Varun Dhawan celebrated his 33rd birthday yesterday. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the actor has helped many daily wage workers under the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). Ashoke Pandit who is the president of Indian Film and TV directors Association took to Twitter to thank Varun for his contribution.
Sharing the video he wrote, “@fwice_mum thanks @Varun_dvn for donating towards the daily wage workers of the entertainment industry. Nearly 5 lakh cine workers, belonging to 32 crafts, wish him a very Happy Birthday. #HappyBirthdayVarunDhawan #FWICEFightsCorona”.
The actor is using social media to spread awareness about the pandemic and is urging people to stay home. The Badlapur star took the initiative to help five lakh daily wage workers of the film industry. Besides him, celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Rohit Shetty among others stepped forward to help the daily-wage workers in the lockdown.
Varun had earlier pledged to provide free meals to the frontline workers, doctors and medical staff. He even made a donation of Rs 55 lakh to the PM-CARES Fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund. On the work front, Dhawan’s last film was Street Dance 3D. His next film Coolie No. 1 which was going to release on May 1 got postponed due to COVID-19 crisis.
