Confirmed: BTS Soon Leaving Columbia Records For Universal Music Group

Finally it got official. BTS has inked a new deal with Universal Music Group for distribution and marketing within the U.S. and other regions.

Earlier this week, it was reported that BTS was leaving Sony Music’s Columbia Records after a three-year partnership. The group first signed with Sony Music for U.S. distribution back in 2018 to work with Universal Music Group instead.

On October 22 local time, HYBE officially confirmed in a statement to the Wall Street Journal that BTS was parting ways with Columbia Records. And had signed a new distribution and marketing deal with Universal Music Group.

“While we greatly appreciate our time with Sony and will forever be grateful for all they have done. And will continue to do. We look forward to our new chapter in partnership with Universal,” HYBE told the Wall Street Journal.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. And neither Universal Music Group nor Columbia Records chose to comment for the article.

‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE’ Concert Day 1

BTS began the ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE’ online concert from the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea, on October 24.

BTS stormed onto the stage for their first concert since last year, breaking through barriers both literally and metaphorically. They entered through the gates broken down with their own powerful singing of ON.

RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, and Jungkook entered via the gates broken down with their own powerful singing of ‘ON.’ Following the news of his muscle pain, Member V came in from a side chair.
