Chris Evans reveals that he has some embarrassing footage of his Avengers costars.
In an issue of Variety’s Actors on Actors, Paul Rudd and Chris Evans gave us even more information that we did not know about what happened behind the scenes.
The Marvel Universe has successfully been around for a long time. The fans were blessed with a lot of behind the scenes and also videos of the filming. But there is an embarrassing video of the cast of Captain America: Civil War.
In the issue, Chris reveals that his costars are dancing. Chris revealed this saying that he was trying to create a Marvel dance video montage of the cast but failed.
Chris and Paul both were a part of the Marvel Universe. They have recently entered the world of streaming television.
In a limited series called ‘Defending Jacob’, Chris Evans plays the character of a dad trying to save his teenage son from a wrongful murder charge.
While Paul Rudd plays both a copywriter and his charming clone in Netflix’s ‘ Living with Yourself’. They interact with each other via video call for Variety.
Chris says he is not a father but he is a son when Paul asked him how he feels about it. He has had an amazing relationship with his father so he tries to imbibe it into the character as well. Chris reveals that it is a darker subject in the series because his character bends his ethics for his son. He says he remembers his dad because of the physicality of a scene where his character says “Good night” to his son.
Chris Evans’ character is also a Defense Attorney. On being asked how he plays a DA, Chris reveals that there was always someone on set to check to keep him in balance.
Paul Rudd came a little later into the Marvel family. He first appeared as Ant-man in 2015. But it was in 2016 that his character, Scott Lang got introduced to other superheroes of Marvel.
In the middle of their chat, Chris and Paul both started discussing Marvel. Paul explained how nervous he was to meet him and Sebastian Stan. He reveals that he incorporated that nervousness into their first scene as well.
Chris further says that on the first day he met Paul, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson and himself decided to shoot. He further recalls it being hilarious and talks about the video they shot just for the Marvel gang. Chris says it was like a yearbook video that was set to the song ‘Grease’.
He further explains that he was going to go around and take short clips of everybody dancing around. Chris said he was determined to collect some footage and he has that in his possession to this day.
Chris further explains saying he asked everybody to just dance for 30 seconds. At that point, Paul and Chris did not know each other that well.
Chris said, “You were a great sport. You willingly danced with little explanation from me, and then I never completed the video. I just abandoned it. But I got that footage of our first day of the meeting of you dancing.”
While Paul says he has no recollection of that memory. When Paul tried to change the topic, Chris found the video. He described it as “unbelievable”.
Paul asks him if it is bad. To which Chris replies, “Oh, it’s so bad”.
They continued discussing Marvel. Paul asked him how he feels like playing such an iconic character. Chris responds saying that it was intimidating because everybody has so many expectations. He continues saying Paul knows how it is in the Marvel team. Chris says they make them feel comfortable.
He further explains that it feels like a team effort. The best idea out of many wins and that is how Marvel ends up with great movies, Chris recalls.
Paul asks Chris how is it like when he goes outside and there are children around. Chris replies that they do a little bit, but it feels nice because when he grew up he had ‘Star Wars’. Those characters meant the world to him while he was growing up.
Chris acknowledges how this is a different time and they can offer so much more than before. He says, “But it is nice to be able to share a little bit extra, especially playing a character that I respect so much, and trying to create this nexus between the work you do and the impact you might want to have on kids.”
Chris further asked Paul how it was like playing Ant-man, whose character isn’t one of the names. Paul responded saying there is pressure working in Marvel because you don’t want to be the weak link.
He further explains that not everyone knew his character. When people asked what does Ant-man do Paul used to reply saying, “He can shrink to the size of an ant, but he also retains strength, and he can control ants and talk to ants.” And people would just laugh.”
Chris further asks Paul for some information about the third movie or if there is one. Paul replies saying he knows how it is and he cannot say anything.
We want a third movie for Ant-man and especially that video Chris Evans was talking about. Chris has been engaging with his fans a lot more via Twitter, we can only hope he gives us a sneak peek.
