Charli D’Amelio Becomes First TikTok Star To Reach 100 Million Followers

Charli D’Amelio just reached the milestone she wished for recently. She became the first TikTok star to reach a 100 million followers on the platform.

“IS THIS REAL LIFE RIGHT NOW,” Charli tweeted early Sunday morning. “100 MILLION PEOPLE SUPPORTING ME!! I TRULY CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS IS REAL.”

The social media star shared a video for her fans on the platform and thanked everyone. She shared that she cannot believe that there are 100 million supporters who are following her. The star said it is insane and expressed her excitement and shock. She said that it feels like a dream that she was waiting to wake up to.

Charli’s milestone comes after almost two years of her starting her videos on the platform. Just last week, the TikTok star had lost a million followers amid backlash her and her sister, Dixie received.

TikTok star Charli D’Amelio has already put the recent drama behind her. She recently received a ton of backlash for a YouTube video that they posted, “Dinner With the D’Amelios”.

Charli Puts Drama Behind

However, despite the backlash, the TikTok star took to her social media to announce she will not let this get her down. She wrote that she will be posting normal content from tomorrow with a smile on her face. The social media star added,  “At the end of the day, I know I am a good person with a good heart and I will never change that about myself. I love you all!!”

The YouTube video had Charli and her sister, Dixie share a meal along with their parents and James Charles. The TikTok star reflected how it will be a year since she rose to fame on the platform and expressed her wish for 100 million followers.

“Ugh, I wish I had, like, more time,” she said, “because imagine if I hit 100 mils a year after hitting a mil.” The beauty blogger, however, asked her if 95 million were not enough for her. Charli responded saying, “Well, I was just, like, saying, like, even numbers.”

This did not go down well with fans as the other sister also did something more. Dixie received backlash after tasting a snail in the paella which was served by their private chef, Aaron May. She went ahead to throw up as her parents described her behavior as “dramatic” but also “classic Dixie.

“People Just Blatantly Disrespecting The Fact That I’m Still A Human Being Is Not OK”

Meanwhile, Charli asked if they have any Dino nuggets. The TikTok star took to Instagram and took responsibility for not editing it properly. She said, “It was obviously taken the wrong way, and we should have done more on our part with the editing to make you guys know that it was a joke.”

She also clarified how she did not mean anything by the follower comment. The social media star explained, “When I had said about the followers’ thing, I genuinely just thought it would be so cool to hit a huge, huge milestone a year after hitting another milestone.” She said she did not mean her followers were numbers.

Charli described the entire situation as a misunderstanding and addressed the hurtful things people are saying as she broke down in tears. “Seeing how people reacted to this, like, I don’t even know if I want to do this anymore,” she shared. “Like, this is messed up stuff that people are saying. Like, people telling me to hang myself. People just, like, blatantly disrespecting the fact that I’m still a human being is not OK at all.”

Her sister Dixie also addressed the issue as she took to her social media. She shared how they have been working with Chef Aaron for a couple of months. The TikTok star continued that they work together and make content for their channel as well as his.

“100M Followers In One Year & Y’all Expect Her To Know How To Be A Perfect Role Model?”

Dixie expressed her gratitude for everyone she works with and everyone who follows her. She said, “And before I even get into anything, I want to say I’m so grateful for every single person that follows me, every single person I care about, every single person I work with, every single person who works with me because I’m just so grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had. So, I would never in any way want to be taken as disrespectful, especially from an out-of-context 15-second clip.”

The social media star shared that her team knows that she throws up a lot. She shared how just the smell and thought or taste of anything can make her throw up. Dixie further explained, “So when they saw the snails, they were like, ‘Oh, let’s get her and try to see if we can get a reaction out of her.’”

The TikTok star further shared how the clip of Chef Aaron and her team convinced her to taste the snail was cut out. She shared that she loves the Chef and would not do anything to disrespect him. The 19-year-old also said how people should not judge someone’s personality over a 15-second video.

Even James spoke out about the backlash. “This Charli situation is NOT sitting right with me… 100M followers in one year & y’all expect her to know how to be a perfect role model?” he tweeted. “Death threats because she’s a picky eater & made a joke about a milestone? 30+-year-olds dragging someone half their age? Feels familiar.”
