
‘BTS Paved The Way’ Trends As K-Pop Band Becomes Most Awarded Group
BTS had a terrific night at the MTV EMAs in 2021 because they were nominated in four categories and won all four. With award show season in full swing throughout the world, K-pop is gaining traction in a number of international circuits.
We have musicians nominated for award events such as the BreakTudos Awards in Brazil; the AMAs, the PCAs, and the MTV VMAs. BTS, a global K-pop group; has continued to demonstrate their power by winning nearly every category in which they were nominated.
BTS has dominated American award ceremonies such as the People’s Choice Awards and the American Music Awards in recent weeks, being nominated in multiple categories. They’ve also made history by being the first Asian act to be nominated for a major award; the ‘Artist of the Year’ at the 2021 American Music Awards.
It was also claimed that BTS has sent in their first Grammy submission for the year 2022; with their summer single ‘Butter.’ They also won three major honours at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2021, including ‘Group of the Year,’; ‘Song of Summer,’ and ‘Best K-Pop.’
BTS also made an impression during the MTV VMAs in Japan. The K-pop quartet was nominated in three categories at the MTV VMAs in Japan in 2021. ‘Butter’ won the ‘Best Group Video – International’ award on October 29. Meanwhile, BTS’ most recent collaboration with Coldplay, ‘My Universe,’ earned the ‘Best Collaboration Video’ award. The winners of the 2021 MTV EMAs, which included BTS, were announced on November 14th.
K-Pop Group Paves It’s Way
BTS was the most nominated group, with four nominations. They won in all four nominated categories, including ‘Best Group,’; ‘Best Pop,’ ‘Best K-Pop,’ and ‘Biggest Fans.’ Because of the global effect of the Hallyu Wave; the MTV EMAs introduced the ‘Best K-Pop’ category for the first time. Monsta X, NCT 127, TWICE, Blackpink, and its members Lisa and Rosé were also nominated, in addition to BTS.
BTS has received a total of 11 MTV EMAs trophies, making them the most awarded group in the show’s history. To commemorate the occasion, the phrase ‘BTS paved the way’ has been trending as ARMY celebrates the win. “And antis get pissed off when they say BTS paved the way,” one fan wrote on Twitter. Another said, “My boys waking up with 4 more trophies in their bag.”
They were also blown away by how good BTS appeared during the victory speech, exclaiming, “BTS looks so expensive with this visuals. Look at them.” One ARMY said, “When we said bts will sweep all the awards we meant it.”
