RM aka Namjoon started out as a rapper but he is also the leader of BTS, an exceptional dancer, vocalist, songwriter and record producer. This makes his projects even more exciting as fans eagerly wait for his solo ventures.
The leader released his first mixtape back in 2015 on Soundcloud and it has more than 2.5 million listeners. In total it has garnered more than 35.5 million streams. His solo work continued to make records as it recently crossed 1 billion streams in total.
RM debuted the mixtape at #12 on Billboard’s World Albums Chart and is the first free K-Pop mixtape that was able to do that. His second mixtape, Mono had also broken records and became the highest-charting album by a K-Pop soloist at that time. It was ranked #26 on Billboard 200. The singer had also collaborated with other artists by producing, recording and songwriting.
His first collaboration was with Warren G and he has teamed up with Tiger JK, Gaeko, Fall Out Boy and Lil Nas X. RM is also considered as the main songwriter and producer for BTS’ superhit songs with over 176 songs being credited to him. The singer was also tied up with PSY as the second most credited K-Pop artist.
This makes him the youngest most credited K-Pop artist. The singer is #5 most followed K-Pop artist and most followed male K-Pop artist on Spotify in the last 24 hours. His latest feather of crediting was added for BTS’ highly-anticipated collaboration with Coldplay as he wrote his verse for ‘My Universe’.
RM’s latest solo track Bicycle was introduced to ARMY at the 2021 BTS Festa as the band celebrated their debut anniversary with fans. The singer’s birthday was on September 12, so ARMY decided to stream his solo and collaborative projects as a gift. And on September 25, it was revealed that he had crossed 1 billion streams on all platforms.
Fans were really happy and they started the trend of ‘1 Billion Galaxies for RM’ as they celebrated this new achievement. An ARMY tweeted, “Congratulations Kim Namjoon for 1Billion streams you deserve more joon.” While another wrote, “1 BILLION GALAXIES FOR RM #1BStreamsforRM Congratulations joonie you deserve it all!!” “Congratulations Kim Namjoon, another milestone,” said one ARMY.
