Break Point, a series centred on Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, gets its first glimpse on ZEE5

On Friday, the streaming site ZEE5 released the first trailer for the upcoming non-fiction film Break Point, which is based on the lives of tennis legends Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi.

The seven-part series, directed by filmmaker couple Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, follows the two Indian tennis legends on and off the court.

The first poster for the ZEE5 original series has been released, and it features Paes and Bhupathi in a serious expression.

For the first time, Ashwiny and Nitesh are co-directing a film, and they are thrilled to share the forgotten story of Paes and Bhupathi, the first Indian pair to triumph at Wimbledon in 1999.

“It’s fantastic to see a series like this on ZEE5, a homegrown video streaming platform. Working with legends like Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes has been surreal, and bringing their unseen narrative to life on cinema is something we will treasure for the rest of our lives “In a joint statement, they said.

Paes and Bhupathi were known as the “Indian Express” when they played together from 1994 to 2006, and then again from 2008 to 2011. The two also had a public fight, but they have now moved on. While filming Break Point, Paes, 48, said he enjoyed going down memory lane.

“Our on-court chemistry was well-publicized, and our off-court chemistry was widely theorised. This is the first opportunity for our fans to see and hear everything firsthand.

“Mahesh and I worked extremely hard to push India to the top of the tennis globe, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell our story to the world like never before,” Paes said.

Bhupathi, 47, is sure that the series will be a hit with both audiences and fans. “It’s no secret that I’m shy when it comes to talking, so reliving the experience and putting it all out there in the most candid and honest way possible is a significant step for me.”

“However, I am pleased that our followers will be able to witness our trip, which was a mix of sweat, perseverance, brotherhood, and, at times, blood and tears,” he said.

Break Point will broadcast on ZEE5 in the near future.
