‘BOOMBAYAH’ by BLACKPINK has 1.3 billion views, while Lisa’s ‘MONEY’ has 200 million

In more ways than one, the globe has been painted in BLACK and PINK colors, and we are here to witness these real-life events. BLACKPINK made its debut on August 8, 2016, and the music video for one of the title singles is still one of the most popular 5 years later.

‘BOOMBAYAH’ has officially surpassed 1.3 billion views on YouTube, which is a great achievement in and of itself, but it is also the first debut music video by a K-pop artist to achieve so. In such a competitive field as the Korean music industry, these ladies have built out a name for themselves and continue to do so every day.

Following ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU and ‘Kill This Love,’ this is the female group’s third music video to reach the incredible number. In the five years, two months, and 23 days since the music video was released, the group has made history.

Lisa, the band’s newest member, is proving this by releasing solo albums. Her debut solo album, ‘LALISA,’ was published on September 10, and the performance music video for the track ‘MONEY,’ which isn’t the titular, was released on September 23. The video went viral almost immediately, with over 200 million views as of November 1. ‘MONEY,’ although being a b-sidetrack, has gained as much if not more fame than ‘LALISA,’ thanks to its catchy tune and dance-challenged choreography.

‘LALISA’ Becomes Fastest Female K-Pop Soloist MV

Her fellow BLACKPINK member Jennie’s ‘SOLO’ music video held the previous record at six months and one day. Not only that but The Billboard Hot Trending Song Chart for this week was issued on October 27. It was first released in October of this year. BLACKPINK’s Lisa, who recently made her solo debut, took the number two and number three slots, respectively, with her songs ‘MONEY’ and ‘LALISA.’

YG Entertainment also revealed on October 26 that the title track from BLACKPINK Lisa’s debut single album, ‘LALISA,’ has surpassed 100 million Spotify streams. ‘LALISA,’ which was released on September 10, required only 46 days to reach this milestone. This is the second-fastest time in history to reach the milestone.
